Les Tonks Sidestep
No details but the death of ex Featherstone and Hull player Steve Evans has been posted on the Featherstone forum. Sad news indeed and condolences to all of his family and friends.
Old Frightful
Confirmed by his god brother and Arthur Bunting's son Paul, what a tough year he's having. Ullman
Desperately sad news, I'm genuinely shocked to hear it. Steve must still have been a relatively young man. "I'm from a fishing family. Roy Boy
Silky skills and effortless grace are my memories of him - RIP Money can't buy you happiness! It can buy you beer and that's a bit like happiness in a glass! "I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals." Like Roy suggests, he looked like he was gliding across the pitch when he ran, he used to be the king of the intercept. RIP Steve, it was an absolute pleasure watching you play. Scubby
I saw his last game for Fev which was a Challenge Cup preliminary tie loss against Hull KR in 82. He actually signed for Hull shortly after and before the CC deadline - meaning he ended up winning the cup the same year. Sad news. RIP.
deluded pom?
Deepest sympathies to Steve's family and friends. A bit shocked really. He can't have been much older than me.

I'd've guessed about the same - a bit younger than me. Absolutely one of the classiest players of his time. He didn't run so much as glide through defences. RIP. sentoffagain2
Problem with growing old you hear of the players you have watched over the years pass away, and it becomes much too frequent.Steve was a class player at centre or stand off and was a gentleman on and off the field.R.I.P.. Trojan
Class act. seemingly effortless runner. Very sad. “Few thought him even a starter. There were many who thought themselves smarter. Graham
Steve was a true gentleman. He was kind and appreciative of effort. Featherstone as a club was fortunate to have him both as a truly gifted player and also as a steady hand at the helm when he was Rovers chairman. At 59, his sudden death has come far too soon. My sincere condolences go to his family and friends at this time. RIP Steve. The Australian Rugby League Forum
