Tyrone Shoelaces
I hope not as well. The greater Rugby League community needs successful a team in York.Talking of memories my first trip to York was for a Challenge Cup tie in the early 1970's. We brought loads of fans over in coaches. The attendance was well over 5,000 then - could have been a lot more as the old ground was packed. It had snowed overnight but was it fine when we set off over the Pennines. About half and hour before the game started the snow came down again and never really stopped. I was on that open end behind the goals, I'd never been so cold in my life ! My mate had a hip flask of whiskey, that saved my life.We lost something like 12pts to 5. To cap it all the bloody coach broke down on the way back. That was when the Challenge Cup had some real meaning and every pro team fancied their chances. We were going well at the time but just didn't do the business on the day. York had a ex England rugby union star playing and he kicked us to death. Does the name Roger West ring any bells with York fans ?
neutralfan
I vaguely remember going to see York Wasps play the Australian tourists in the 80s?Cant remember which ground it was in York though? I think Gary Hetherington was playing/coaching York at the time?
DEANO
That would have been played under portable floodlights and Gary smith was voted best full back against the tourists sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

Gav Wilson
Has the life support been switched off? Had some great days and lots of memories. Such a shame that it ends like this 6th June: Last match report filed on the website. 17th August: Last story posted on the website (Chairman rant). 11th September: Last tweet from @YorkKnightsRLFC. 21st September: Last facebook post (another Chairman rant). No mention of yesterday's semi final anywhere. Thats how much they care. @GavWilson

George 1
Apparently John Guildford has said he's calling it a day now the season is over Surely now is the time to declare the club is now wound up and give somebody a chance to come in and keep rugby alive in york

oiseau
That's tragic for Ford and his boys. Top club which needs to be saved, surely there is the will to carry on from someone in the York area ? We can't let a club be destroyed just because of one man's greed and predjudices ? ANDYPK
After watching RL in many guises of York RLFC I have to say the first few years of the Knights being formed with Steve Ferres and Roger Dixon fronting the Commercial side of the club were just brilliant, match day was an experience not just 80 mins of rugby, the ground started filling 40 mins before KO, there were entertainment for the kids before and at half-time, almost every game had a curtain raiser and away games we took on average 400+.atmosphere and camaraderie was great. If we could put this coach in Fordy and the squad we have this year with a couple of additions back with a strong Commercial team like that the club would be a different place. Just not quite sure where a suitable backer with vision will come from, might go to York City but not sure really if that's a step forward or not. Just want a professionally run competitive team to watch in my home City
Clarence St
If I want to sell something I advertise it. I've read in the Press the Knights are up for sale but I haven't seen any advert. Can anyone tell me if it is up for sale and if so what's the asking price or is it been wound up and closed down? Or is the owner on his annual "I'm going thing" which I recall him doing at the end of at least 2 recent seasons?

Simon Hall
Can't the supporters club arrange a meeting to see if we can save this club, and is Gary Hall still involved with it. We did that in March 2015 and the supporters just sat there blaming the council. Despite us coming under all sorts of flak and ridiculous accusations from G*******d's little gang for nearly 2 years, we tried our best to rally the supporters and let them know what was going on. We were vilified and argued with by people who said we weren't "proper supporters" while others just continued to hand over money to the club. My dad even got banned from home games, how many people stood up for him then and said "enough is enough"? We tried to arrange a protest at the "home" game in Featherstone. How many took part? About 5. And those ended up having abuse thrown at them by other supporters who insisted G*******d was some kind of saviour of York RL, while others just looked on. I've had totally baseless accusations of theft thrown at me, he's contacted my customers to try and bad mouth me, slagged my company off on Twitter, umpteen pathetic legal threats, texts from him "offering me out", several abusive Facebook posts yet some "proper fans" have tried to make out my family and I are out of order for just wanting him clear of the club we've supported home and away for over 50 years. Wasn't long since you were blaming us for it all either. Now you want the very same people to try and sort it out for you? But you know what? They probably will. http://www.alldesignandprint.co.uk Printing & Graphic Design with Nationwide Service Programmes | Leaflets | Cards | Banners & Flags | Letterheads | Tickets | Magazines | Folders | Brand Identity plus much more Official Matchday Programme Print & Design Partner to York City Knights, Heworth ARLFC, York Acorn RLFC & Hunslet RLFC Official Player Sponsor of Marcus Stock for the 2020 Season

GaryHall
Within hours of announcing the public meeting at New Earswick Folk Hall I was told by Guildford that if I didn't cancel it he would go to the Press and inform the public that I had embezzled KISS funds. Total lies. That sparked off 18 months of abuse from him ranging from the infamous w****w l****r post which he was fined by the RFL to a tirade of verbal abuse at Clifton Park, so many threatening and abusive emails that I closed down my email account. Continual snide comments from his followers and being banned from home games for alledgely bullying people with learning difficulties these are the people I take to Wembley and to away games. I was also accused off pushing a steward down the terracing at an away game. Again total lies. Some one obviously believed Guildford enough to post these lies on here and on the Press web site. In answer to the initial question am I still involved with KISS yes I am goodness knows why though!!

paul
After reading both Simon's and Gary's comments about what has happened to them in the past,i and like a lot of supporters didn't realise how much abuse you taken from JG,and how it must have impacted on their life's and family. So why has the local media ie:Radio York and the Press not come out against JG and asked him to explain why he has personal issue with goth of you? Surely after what has gone on in the last 2 months no supporters or local media will believe what JG Say's anymore and if the local media look at this forum and see what Gary Hall & Simon Hall have said on this subject and don't go and ask why he had a personal think against both of you JG must have something over both of them?Like I said at the beginning I like many had no idea what you have been through. moorside roughyed
I'm just so sorry the whole situation has escalated to the point where's there's so much hostility, it's a shame for York and for rugby league. Mrs Shades
weighman you are asking the right question. Going back of old ground of who said what to who doesn't move things forward. Talk of a supporters trust running the club is a great idea but without someone with cash its never going to happen which is why it hasn't already happened in the 2 year period Gary, Simon & Gav have been talking about it. I would love JG, the club, or someone to make a statement so all the players, staff and supports know what is happening, otherwise we will loose more great players like Jack Aldous So absolutely right weighman "But what about the future , sometimes you have to move on !"
