European Championship B - Serbia v Russia

Recommended Posts

Just been watching for the past 10 minutes, about 10-15 to go I would guess.

Serbia just scored off a blatant forward pass but oh well, I'd rather them win than Russia. Both teams are running some pretty good lines and the crowd seems quite vociferous!

Not really sure what kind of standard I was expecting to be honest, but pleasantly surprised it's quite good!

I tried the link about 20 minutes ago, but it didn't work. It is up and running now and looks like a close game.

The standard and style of play is positive and energetic, if a little rough around the edges. I have watched a few Serbian games recently and this is definitely typical of them.

FT, and Serbia win 20:15. I think there may be a party tonight.

Great result for Serbia.  As I posted earlier, I was there recently to play against their national union team, who were a total shambles.  The RL guys are well ahead of the quinzistes over there - well done to them!!

last try for you.

Just when you feel yourself disillusioned and drifting away from the game magic moments like this spring up and you fall in love with the game all over again :-)

Great crowd reaction and hopefully Serbia can kick on, love to see them and Canada become a force internationally.

Surely there must be a few 2nd and 3rd generation Serbs in Australia playing in the NRL, Queensland cup and Holden cup etc?

Yes, bringing in a few ringers would be one way to kill off the enthusiasm stone dead.

Brilliant video for that try, thanks Cherry and White for posting.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Really? You don't think adding a few professional and semi-professional players to the Serbian team alongside a majority of local domestic players helping them to become more competitive and maybe even qualify for the world cup would increase the support and profile of the game in Serbia?

This doesn't stop Italy, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, tonga etc.

The Serbs are currently sounding out Tom Opacic from Brisbane Broncos.

Isn't there also 2 brothers playing for manly that are of Serbian heritage?

I'd love to see rugby league really take off in the Balkans, a Slavic cup competition would be great with the likes of Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Poland and russia etc playing each other on a regular basis.

It's a question of numbers. For many emerging nations, one or two experienced players (halves, hooker, or loose forward) from SL or NRL could improve the whole team's performance. But when the need to win is the only thing, you end up with a team full of heritage players, which is one of the sticks people love to beat RL with.
