Blimey!

When New Order started to emerge from Joy Division and effectively invent modern house music, they did some remarkable stuff that gets lost in their later pop kind of hits.

Don't know I anyone is into punk but currently loving Punks Dead by Soft Play (fka Slaves). The lyrics really resonate with me and are actual comments made following the announcement of their name change. There's even a cameo from Robbie Wiliams!

I was never a punk fan but I've got a ticket to see Bodega this month in Leeds. Apparently it's "post-punk"
but I really like them

Seb Lowe and his band were magnificent live in Leeds - much better live than on yoochoob.

I hope they really make it big. This is the first live video I've seen of them. They are brilliant and also touring, please go if they are near you. £17 for a ticket to the best live show you'll see this year, I promise.

Saw this rabble live in Leeds on Saturday. Really good show as always. Mr David Gedge is in his early 60s now! Dalliance is always one of their best live tunes.

What amazed me was how many genuinely young people were in the crowd. They knew all the words and also knew that Gedge doesn't do encores ("It's not a reflection on you", he says at every single gig).

Saw Shed Seven at the weekend in a much smaller show than this. Just a brilliant live band who always put on a good show. Hoping to see them at their open air gigs next year.

Saw The Long Ryders on Friday doing a 40th anniversary show for debut album Native Sons. Wonderful album and band

Trailblazers for the Americana and alt-country movement. Native Sons and State of our Union are both great albums.

Surprisingly vibrant reggae scene in Thailand. This lot were playing at the excellent Studio Lam (home of The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band) on Sukhumvit Road Bangkok last night

My 15 year old put his Spotify playlist on in the car and up popped Picture on the Wall by Groundation.

I couldn't have been more proud and I reckon he couldn't have thought I was less cool when I sang along.

He'll probably stop listening to them now!

The best band I've ever seen live are going again in 2025. Got tickets for the London gig.

I've lost count how many times I've seen them now. Their live shows are an absolute joy.
