Maximum the Hormone (feat. Atarashii Gakko!) - Shimi.

When the Japanese go a bit peculiar, even by Japanese standards.

Even the ads are excellent. 😀

Went to see this lot at the Town & Country in the late 80s. When they split due to musical differences, the resulting two bands sounded identical.

I bought that single!

Then a couple of the Georgia Satellites hooked up with some of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers to record U.S.Blues as "The Harshed Mellows" for a charity album of Grateful Dead covers.

Few days ago, heard part of the 1984 Festive Fifty on a YouTube channel. Included "Spiritwalker" by The Cult. Dug out their albums. Earlier ones, lot better than remembered. On the downside, "Electric" remains possibly the most futile exercise in the history of recorded music.

Friday, BBC 4, TOTP 1985, Killing Joke "Love Like Blood". Dug out their albums. Everything up to and including "Night Time", all as good as remembered.

On the back of that, had a weekend of loosely-related listening. New Model Army, Sisters of Mercy, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, UK Decay, Play Dead. Couple of real obscurities - Ausgang, Blood and Roses.

Fields of the Nephilim is a challenge. Still seem comically formulaic, but can't help myself enjoying "Dawnrazor".

Wouldn't call myself a big fan of Sam Fender, but he's basically must-listen for any fans of Bruce Springsteen or Brandon Flowers (The Killers frontman). His latest album released today has four songs well worth hearing.

I recently discovered The Shaggs. Of all the bands I've heard over the years they are definitely one of them. And this track from their debut album could be best described as "existing," although some critics have gone as far as calling it "similar, in some respects, to music."

They seem to have got back together more recently, albeit with a new bassist.

Takes me back to the sound of recorders in primary school assembly.

English girls invented free-form jazz.

Listened to one from 1979 recently that was all 2 Tone. Excellent (and the presenting style is very refreshing as opposed to the love the show email reading style of most DJs nowadays)

Alsager Jazz Society live, last night. 21 year old Emily Masser (from Wigan) together with Alex Clarke and the Richard Weatherall trio.

This is what she sounds like.

Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Going to see this lot for the umpteenth time at Leeds Uni. The gig is called "Back to where it all started" which is just perfect, because it's where I first saw them, maybe 35 years ago.

I imagine the venue has changed, I don't know. Maybe someone can help me out?

I remember seeing Martin Stephenson and the Dainties in the Leeds Uni 'Refectory' but I don't think it's there any more.

They’re playing at History in Toronto on May 27, a birthday treat for me 😊

My eldest boy set up my Spotify to find music that is conducive to my taste and it's really, really good.

I already mentioned Spoon but didn't know about this bonkers band. So good!

I've probably posted this before but it's goosebumps. So powerful.

I ticked a massive box seeing Natalie Merchant last year but I'd love to this beautiful band.
