Have I put this one on here before?

Not sure why a band with two guitarists and a bassist need a couple of guitarists playing backing.

I think we can all think of situations where what appears to be a perfectly fine set-up can be made infinitely better by a reduction of two in the playing staff.

Good observation.

Wow, the Kane Gang! I'm sure I've still got my 12" single of 'Closest Thing to Heaven' somewhere.

We're not exactly flooded with Dream Academy covers but this is the leader in that group for mine

Not sure if I've posted this before, but here's a link to a fantastic, suprising range of cover versions. The AV Club website invited the public to nominate songs for bands to cover, then a load of bands were invited into the studio to choose which one they wanted to cover. Each time a song was performed it was crossed off the list. The project is now in its fourth season and all the covers are free to view and listen to.

Some of the covers are brilliantly done and some are just bobbins, but they are all interesting. See what you think... here's 2012's tunes:

Anne Nightingale used to play that every week on her Sunday night show about 1984.

If you can be arsed, there is also some excellent footage of their lead singer facing the PMRC panel and absolutely tearing their arguments to pieces. Dee Snyder v PMRC or similar.

I saw the links, I'll have a look later.

I was aware of its existence.

Nothing had prepared me for its magnificence.

Not a cover version (as far as I know) but just wait 'til you experience Leonard Nimoy singing 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins'. YouTube is your friend....
