Record Breakers - unanswered points?

In 2005, although not in consecutive games chronologically, St Helens scored 137 points without conceding any in successive rounds of the Challenge Cup.

The games were 7 weeks apart. They beat York City Knights 62-0 in the fifth round on May 6th and, 7 weeks later, manage to nil another team in the quarter final on June 26th, scoring another boatload of points in the process, although I can't quite remember who that was.

If anyone can help that would be great, thanks.

It all came to nought (ha!) for them eventually as they were dumped out of the Cup by the eventual winners on a glorious day in late July.

Is the question about how many points or how many minutes without conceding? I mean, York City Knights beat that points total in one game against West Wales Raiders the other year!

I would guess, reading WT's post,  that it's all about game time without conceding a point rather than points scored.

And in SL , not involving crappy lower league rubbish 😉

In the play offs last season, Salford lost 18 - 12 at Wigan, with George Williams scoring Wigan's last try in the 57th minute. Salford then nilled Castleford before returning to the DW to beat Wigan 28 - 4, and it wasn't until the 72nd minute that Bevan French scored Wigan's only try. That's 175 minutes without conceding a point (maybe 173 if you lop a couple of minutes off for the conversion after the Williams try).

Bloody Salford. When will they live down to expectations?

Depends how far back you go, I suspect. Single digit scores were the norm for the first few decades of RL.

Widnes didn't concede a try in the first six games of the 1919-20 season, nilling the opposition in five consecutive games. They weren't particularly a top team, so I expect the record is quite a bit higher.

That would have been our 75-0 victory over Wigan in the 2005 Cup QF. I recall going to a semi final at Huddersfield, stuck in heavy traffic worrying if we were going to make kick off. We were then delayed further by the Saints team bus been given a police escort to the stadium.

I don't remember much of the match though, it must be a repressed memory!

Well that's back to back nillings by Saints, so 160 minutes + minutes from whenever Catalans scored against them.

5 halves of scoreless opponents out of 6 foot Saints since resuming play. Very impressive.

So Cas have gone 145 minutes without scoring any.  What's the record for that?

It was both really, enquiring as to what the record was and how many Catalans have to beat Wakefield to nil by this week 😞

May 2011 for Warrington will take some beating in terms of points scored V. conceded.  They beat Keighley 80-0 in the Cup, Cas 62-0 in the League, then Swinton 112-0 in the Cup on consecutive weekends (254 points without reply).  These 3 games were preceded with a 58-14 win in the league at Bradford, and followed with a 42-6 win at Leeds - I'd have to check the scoring sequences in these matches to confirm the total time for keeping the opposition to nil, and cumulative scoring.

I can't see that they beat Widnes' 6 consecutive nillings though - 5 is the best I can do back in 1896/7.

I think Catalans scored in the 60th minute so Saints are currently 180 minutes without conceding a point

Would have been 240 had they managed to hold them out!
