Always liked the NSW country origin shirt.

thought the colours might be a bit too Giants-ish though even if it's more orange than gold...

I broadly agree.

think the former shirt is far better.

Just seen the 125 years ago teams and shirts, how about a retro version of the 1895 shirt?

It was on the #125 site. A chart of the original clubs and their shirts. Batley was all white with cerise and fawn hoops around the biceps and chest.

You mean like the 120 year one and parade at an home match that year, I bought one of them and still wear it.

Don't worry AT I'm sure it was blue & white, Fax like Dewsbury have no sense of style...

It sure was  the only thing missing was no local derby against Dewsbury   they were not in the Northern Union.

We didn't exist Roger, that's why.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Typical! Let the traditional clubs do the hard work then waltz in like prima Donna's.

Johnny come latelies!

It is possible that there was a local derby in 1895.  Both Dewsbury and Batley were in the Yorkshire Senior Competition during the 1894/95 season, playing home games I believe at Crown Flatt (or Flatts?) and Mount Pleasant respectively.    Dewsbury did attend the famous meeting at the George Hotel in August 1895 but decided against joining the Northern Union.  Incidentally, apparently Dewsbury were so poor that they seldom got out of the bottom three  which is perhaps why they packed up and played soccer instead.  (The new Dewsbury club was formed in April 1898 according to the "Official History of Dewsbury RLFC").  I await PM's take on all  this with interest.

Back on track, I like Phil's idea of playing in the original strip, it would be good publicity.

Flatt.

And correct, the original club that attended the meeting packed in in 1897 and switched to soccer whilst relocating to Saville Town. The President of that club, Mark Newsome, later became the President of the RFU - another motive for not joining the NU perhaps?

Just imagine being a club so poor that you couldn't get out of the bottom three for years. Such a club would have packed in long since, don't you think?
