We all need a link to that board and the app

Haha, the board is lovely, so much brighter and the wires are really set into the board.

There are probably better seeming apps, but the Russ Bray one has the most features. The rest also struggle to replicate a real-life player. Even if you set it to a 37 average player, if they have 3 darts at a double they'll usually hit it.

At least Russ Bray lets you have a few legs in the madhouse!

Lower quality than expected so far but going the way predicted.

Does Littler ever miss D10?

Fantastic from Littler. Van Gerwin didn't play that badly but missed too many doubles early on. What a talent Littler is and so mature in the way he approaches the game.

He dominated tbh, and it never seemed in doubt. A phenomenal talent.

He certainly did. It was far more one sided than I thought it would be and MVG never troubled him. I had said previously he'd need to upset Littler and throw him off his game but he didn't do that at all. If a player allows Littler to cruise like that then they aren't beating him.

Whatever the skill level between the top players, Littler is very strong mentally it seems and throws off the disappointment of a bad visit/leg/set very quickly.

Well done him!

His ability to seemingly throw off a 180 at will is amazing. This is particularly at the start a leg when an opponent has gained traction in some way in the previous one. It must be such a kick in the guts each time. As you say the way he can just reset his game too and start over.

Yes, it was very noticeable to me that Littler was restricting Van Gerwen to either pretty much zero attempts at doubles or very difficult checkouts on the Littler throw for much of the match.

It gave a very real advantage to Littler a bit like serving in tennis or controlling the white pieces in a chess match.

There’s always talk of an advantage on a players throw (essentially going first), but to me it seemed Littler was scoring at least 4 to 5 trebles per six darts on his first couple of throws to really hammer home the advantage.

He built a big advantage in the first 4 sets that way while also ratcheting up the pressure on the Van Gerwen throw by doing so.

It wasn’t MVG’s greatest performance but Littler played a massive part in that.

I also like Littler’s refreshingly down to earth and straightforward way of discussing what he’s doing afterwards - he’s a credit to himself.

How many times did Littler leave himself on 170?   Was almost like he was practicing that and beating MVG was just the side game 🤣🤣

What Littler did so well is raise his game when MVG did. MVG would have a 94ish average set so Littler would win the set with a 95 average but the following set MVG might average 110 so Littler just upped his game to a 112.

Once this catches your eye, you'll notice that he does it *all* *the* *time*

In the SF, Bunting was on 280 and Littler was yet again on 170. The match was almost over (6-1, 1-1 iirc) and so Bunting threw 60-50-60. As Littler went up he was having trouble controlling his smile. He threw the 60-60-50, and then the two of them shared their moment.

And I think this is one of his weapons — he makes losing to him fun, his opponents get to join in with his playfulness. There's a famous clip of him going Tops Tops Tops for a 120 finish against Peter Wright. What the clip failed to include is that a couple of legs earlier Wright had thrown Tops Tops for an 80 finish. Littler's 120 was like saying, nice, but how this? Hence Wright spluttering into his drink as he watched.

I forget at which point it was on Friday, I think somewhere in the middle, but Littler went Inner Bull, Double 10 for a 70 finish. What that communicated to MvG, heaven knows.

find it quite bizzare that they make a "thing" of littler having beckham as his man utd hero as he played his last game for man u 4 years before littler was even born

Premier League line up has been announced.

Littler, Humphries, Cross and MvG by right.

Dobey, Bunting, Price and Aspinall by invite.

Bit surprised by the last two. Price because he sounded thoroughly done with the whole thing at the end of the 2024 PL. Aspinall will be a popular character, but how's his form been recently? I know he just reached the QF but was the draw was fairly gentle for him?

Michael Smith will be smarting not to be in there - he can produce some awesome stuff on his day

It is surprising considering he was champion as recently as 2023 and when you consider Aspinall made the cut. Since then his form has been shocking though especially in 2024 where it dropped off a cliff. Hope he gets back to his best because on his day he's brilliant

I’m a big darts fan but I find the PL rather dull, not enough players and it seems to go on forever. I’d prefer they scrapped it and added another couple of televised tournaments.

It's a decent idea, but you're right about it. Also, I've never warmed to the new format. Maybe it's better for the fan who goes, but week after week it's pretty repetitive.

while not been able to do much due to the bad weather this week I got one of the spare bedrooms cleared out and got the board and arrows back out -did  watching all the skills of the PDC players over the past few weeks have any effect on me? erm no - I  still play darts like a donkey plays the violin!

You have to be natural I think. I was watching a pub league match the other day and they were all pretty awful, like most people are - anyone who says if they practiced all the time they could be in the pro game (which I’ve heard a lot) is a fool.
