fite.tv World Cup Coverage

I think it is pretty disappointing as there is no RLWC2021 coverage in Spain, Italy, Germany, the Balkans and other EU countries. These countries have a RL presence and it‘d be good to Support the Development in providing coverage free of charge.

In comparison: The RLWC2017 was available on major FTA TV station and Streaming plattforms in Germany.

They might be able to get FITE through whatever platform they use. Someone further up subscribed from Germany.

Exactly me too, Jim. And slightly annoyed by how good Kayo has turned out to be!

The RLWC had almost no mention in Aus 3 months ago, but it's getting a lot of press and discussion now. It's sad it's not on free-to-air, but I think there will be a lot of people like us jumping on the Kayo bandwagon (hopefully). May pay dividends in terms of later international coverage?

Is the World Cup being talked about much in Aus? Either on TV/Radio/Pods or in general conversation? From afar it looks like a lot of the Aus media channels are pumping out a fair bit of info, at least on social media. Seems like more interest down there this time, shame it can't be capitalized on with free to air games.

Sure I already purchased.

My point was more like back in 2017 the RLWC matches were on FTA TV channels (Pro7maxx) and available to a broader audience. I know of people that got introduced to RL because it was on TV. This time the matches are hided on a plattform no one heard of before.
You have NFL, College Football, Rugby 7s, 6 Nations and Gallagher Premiership here on TV/Streaming but no RLWC. So it is a step back and a missed opportunity.

Yeah, it's a real shame, particularly in those countries that are actually competing. You'd hope for FTA in Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Jamaica where they actually have something of a domestic competition. Could really give them a boost.

As far as Spain is concerned, I don't think there has ever been a rugby league match on FTA or any pay TV channel ever, apart from (presumably illegal) Sky TV broadcasts from Sports bars, etc.

This FITE platform could be a grand option provided it works ok.

Every single NRL game is available on their platform for €150  a year.

SL cobbled together a rickety service for a hundred quid a year and then they jacked it in mid season last year.

FITE have confirmed that all Wheelchair matches will be available free on their service and Women's matches can be watched on the standard FITE+ which is 4.99 per month.

Some Men's games will be made available on FITE+, whilst others are PPV or you need to buy the World Cup pack.

In the press release from Integrated Sports Media, it says people in the US can watch the World Cup via "iN Demand, DIRECTV, DISH, Shaw, Rogers, PPV.com, and FITE" which I'm not sure if that means it will also be available as a PPV directly through those services (in addition to FITE) or if they are just talking about FITE through those channels.

Anyway in terms of Broadcasters, this is what I'm aware of:

Participants:
England - BBC (FTA)
Wales - BBC (FTA)
Scotland - BBC (FTA)
Northern Ireland - BBC (FTA)
Ireland- ??
Australia - Foxtel + Kayo (Subscription)

Spain - FITE (PPV / Subscription / Free)
USA - FITE (PPV / Subscription / Free)

Latvia - Viaplay (Subscription)
Lithuania - Viaplay (Subscription)
Central America - FITE (PPV / Subscription / Free)

Anyone know any Broadcasters I might be missing?

Thanks for all of that. How much revenue do you expect would have been raised from all these broadcast deals. Even a rough figure would be interesting.

Yeah, it's only recent, but it's pretty consistent now.

I'm in Sydney, I'm sure it's nothing like this in Melbourne, Perth etc, but there's reports in the news most nights on all channels, good newspaper coverage. The Jillaroos pay deal got a good amount of positive coverage.

It is a shame about FTA, but I'm hoping there will be strong demand (as much as can be for 1am or 5am games!), which we can use to prove there is interest here in the international game. Which the ARLC will of course ignore...

Yakstorm !The  Womens Rugby Union World Cup  is being played here in NZ at the moment And that is what's on tv three.

There is nothing on the news etc in regard to the Kiwis and Ferns  in the Rugby League World Cup, Actually you would not know it was taking place.

I did the same Frank. Signed up to Spark this morning. The cost is very reasonable.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Yes it is reasonable Ray. Too big to miss  and you need to be able to enjoy the event.

Trying to get news on the Kiwis  should be more  accessible. Enjoy the games, I think the Kiwis will  do very well.

Poor start from FITE**. Well off the pace.

FIrst half ok. Then it froze just before Watkins try and the rest of the second half was a shambles.

Must do much better as the tournament progresses.

**Also see Samoa, McIlorum, PA systems, crowd noise, etc.

Stuck the boot into a rubbish feed of the 2nd half of the first game.

But Oz/Fiji was perfect.

Keep it up FITE

There was exactly the same problems with the TV feed in Australia

Living in the USA, Fite TV is my provider but thankfully I have a VPN and can just use BBC iPlayer instead. Fite TV means the RLWC is basically insivible in the USA, I can't imagine anyone would even know they exist unless they are into martial arts.
