I wonder how many more devoted RL fans think so Dav?

Amazing! You managed to kill off the positivity of your own positive news thread!

I think this might make you the ultimate Rugby League fan.

There are many topics put up about the Amatuer game Futtocks, and most are treated like a fart in a lift on these pages

Dav and I have spoke previously about the amateur game, when not many others have been interested.

I just hope it’s not as amateurish as when whatever channel it was showed it on TV and it was littered with Morgan and swearing.

The more rugby on OurLeague the better, though.

Must be worth the cost. You think it'd be better showcasing some women's or wheelchair games on YouTube rather than shove community clubs on an app;

Why ?

I’d hope most H,the NCL Premier is a fantastic comp, probably the most open & competitive we have, you’d hope the more people who get a chance to watch it might even start attending games,it’ll be the best £3 they ever spend.

Aren't they going to be shown free on OurLeague? Where's the £3 involved?

Not that I wouldn't pay it. Think it's a great initiative and will watch a good few of them work allowing

Because I'm not sure of the value of these matches to anyone outside those who follow the NCL, so why are we spending money on broadcasting them?

Said it in the article the viewing figures were positive. I've no connection to any of the clubs but will definitely watch a few

£3 is roughly wnhat NCL clubs charge for entry.

So you don’t really know what the interest in those games are then.

Maybe to give the community games profile a boost, you know that part of the sport who introduce, nurture & develop the players who you watch in Superleague.

I love watching amateur rugby but there's very little I can say about it on a general RL forum because almost nobody has watched the same game I have. The people to discuss the game with are the 200 or 300 people stood elsewhere on the touchline. Same reason a SL game on telly gets a 10 page thread and a non-televised game gets two pages.

Maybe putting a few games on OurLeague will help; there will certainly be some entertaining and closely-fought games.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

They're not on TV though, are they? They're on a streaming service which is only available to its members.

And that's the bit I do find weird. Unless one really thinks that rugby league should remain some kind of clique then we should be encouraging the RFL to put these on YouTube.

Yes which is free, unlike games on BBC & C4 you need a TV licence, Sky and Viaplay are only available to its subscribers.

Although I agree you would not find many to discuss a particular game with, I love reading the thread on ‘where did you go’ which provides  a mixture of brief game report and the ground/team/ matchday experience. So I would find anything you have to offer on amateur games interesting should you feel up for it.

The Matty Ashton article in RLW was an interesting read on his journey. through the amateur game.

The NCL contribute to the  coverage themselves out of their own funds. £6 k this time. The games are free to watch.

Why do it ? Maybe for the same reason all sports seek  media exposure.  The clubs on show get a boost in crowds bar takings and game sponsorship opportunities. If you've ever been to one there is a real buzz about the place when your club is ' on tele '

Our League extends its digital footprint and builds up its database - useful for the RFL in the new IMG age.

But best of all , coverage shows that the NCL plays the game at a decent standard given no-one gets paid and who knows sometimes persuades  new visitors to have a look in person.....

That all smacks of overthinking. The games are good and worth watching but the benefits to putting them on the OurLeague members service are simply not there. There will be small numbers of new people (because, by now, most RL people will be on there) for IMG/RFL and even smaller numbers of new people for the clubs (because the RL community is small and most will already be well aware of amateur games).

YouTube would not be perfect but you can instantly guarantee a larger audience that is likely to include a higher proportion of people new to the game who may be converted.

It seems so simple that it's impossible to understand why anyone wouldn't think that "exposure" on an app available to all is better than one that people in the real world won't have heard of.
