Wellingon Albert's here now.

What we don't know of course is where he is in terms of fitness. Presumably part of the negotiations was the fact that (as the picture illustrates) that his wife/partner gave birth towards the end of 2023 and you'd think that might be why his arrival has been delayed, but obviously he hasn't had a pre-season so might be some way off match fitness. Still, once he's in the groove he should be a useful addition to the pack.

Who would have thought that this potential move could signal something so fundamental in the history of rugby league.

"The potential move of Paul Turner to the UK, specifically to Featherstone Rovers, marks a significant moment in rugby league's ongoing narrative of player movement and international influence. As clubs continue to scout for talent that can alter their fortunes, players like Turner stand at the crossroads of opportunity and ambition, ready to make their mark in new territories. The outcome of this move could not only shape Turner's career but also influence the strategic direction of the clubs and leagues involved, making this a development worth watching in the coming months."

Callum Walker, eat your heart out. 🤣

Paul turner has been released for the dragons 30 man squad this morning but it says to a super league team ?

Ok here's how this works:
When an Australia-based player leaves to join a British team, Aussie news sites will say he's leaving to join a SL team regardless of whether he's going to SL, Championship or even League 1. Just as we might be a bit hazy about the names of 2nd-tier leagues in Australia because of confusion over name changes/sponsors etc (NSW/Queensland Cup, Intrust Super Cup/Hostplus Cup), most Aussie journos won't know what the comps are below SL.

So yesterday News Corp announced that Turner has been released "to sign with an undisclosed team in the English Super League", and of course Callum Walker from TotalRL parrots that line and starts talking about London and Warrington being the only clubs still having a quota spot left.

Of course, that doesn't mean he isn't going to a SL team, but I wouldn't take it as gospel at this stage.

Maybe he just thinks he's signing for a Super League team like Leilua did? 😂

Having watched Dewsbury 3 or 4 times last season the two i like are 3 Greensmith left centre and 8 Beckett prop but he looks mobile enough for the second row.I would be happy with either of those. The right age as well 24/25 but i have not heard anything.

Don't forget S

CASTLEFORD Tigers Academy prop Jimmy Beckett has signed his dream contract with Featherstone Rovers, for the 2019 season.

There's not a lot of footage of him around but this is from 2019 in the NSW Cup

He's played hooker and full back as well as half back in the NRL but given our situation I'm sure we've signed him as a half.

Ask his sponsor for more details.

Fun fact: Turner was a junior for many years at Hikurangi Stags. Hikurangi is tiny (population less than 2,000) but in 2015, when Turner was still playing for one of the junior teams, Hikurangi's player of the season was an 18-year-old half back called Caleb Aekins.
