For our sport to be offering young lads these opportunities especially in Africa is something we should be both celebrating and encouraging. I know you’re on the ground in France and probably have a greater insight into the logistics of the tour so it’d be great to see any detail in support of your point. We all yearn for more (and more diverse) international RL. Let’s not knock it when it comes our way. I agree we need internationals however even with an elite 1 only team picked we could be looking at over 100 points. Better for Kenya to be playing teams like Cameroon Ghana etc
gingerjon Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 I'm always baffled by rugby league fans who want rugby league played under only exceedingly specific circumstances lest a horrible blowout occur. There are many ways the sport is held back and this cringe, reflected in our administrators, is definitely a part of the reason why. Just play. 10 Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. It’s hilarious, that we seem to be in an era where Australia and New Zealand would rather play in a SH based tournament rather than play a lesser nation such as England and some on here are up in arms about it. Then some of those posters on here are steadfastly against a NH tournament because England are far better than anyone else or moan that France will easily beat Kenya. In my many, many years watching many sports I have yet to see a sport that is so unsure of itself; so insecure; so sensitive to possible criticism from non-RL people if a blow out score appears. 5

We should be taking games to the likes of Kenya, Ghana etc regularly but it must be part of a bigger strategy to grow the game in those areas. We are talking 20+ years of investment. I dont mind blowouts and it wouldve been good to see the same 16 teams from the last world cup and to see how much improvement had been made over that period to 2026. Unfortunately I feel alot of the effort made by developing nations always seem to be circumvented by the Heritage rules. What France are doing is great and something I would encourage England doing by sending an Elite 1 level squad to play them. Maybe something similar where League 1 level English players could play South Africa. 2
JonM Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Looks like it's hoped to be more than just a one-off - planning to do it again next year and to add women's internationals in 2025. https://europeanrugbyleague.com/articles/2360/kenya-to-host-france-in-two-ground-break 3 1

Personally would rather see them play PNG Fiji Wales for more competitive tests P 2

I'd much rather see Wales playing USA than Scotland or Ireland. A three cornered Trans-Atlantic comp between USA, Wales and France would benefit each country more than any of the current crop of alternatives being bandied about on these forums. I'm convinced that nursing/nudging the USA into International competition of this kind is the shortest route to a credible NH tournament. The USA being an enormous pool from which to draw in players and money.
