It was also the thread in which we would learn that Dom Young would be rubbish forever more because he made a losing debut as a 17 year old against St Helens and was at fault for every try.

The last Burgess bows out of the NRL today.

Nothing new in this article but a nice reminder of when all 4 played for Souths.

Interesting that Gould compares Nsemba to Pearce-Paul saying he has a similar sort of build, similar sort of frame.  They are both tall, granted, but they don't have the same build at all.

I agree. Nsemba is a different build and a different player. He’s more of a power player than Pearce Paul and is stockier

They are the same colour though...

What a player Big Tom has been for Souths . Tremendous career , tremendous servant . Lovely try and long range touchline conversion to finish . Not sure why Hornby used him so sparingly in recent times but he’s a Souths great and no mistake . Shame he’s now  retired and signed for hudds

At the end of the Burgess era for Souths, I find myself wondering just how big George Burgess would have been in the NRL and internationally if that hip hadn't caused him so many problems.

In season 2014 and the 2014 final he was enormous and it was probably the emotion that got Sam the man of the match award - playing with the broken cheekbone for almost 80 minutes and his last game at Souths (in that stint) - in front of George. 

George was superb and his try broke the game open.

He was on course to be the best prop in the world for me (if he wasn't already) and shows how fickle pro sport can be.

Anyway, congratulations to Tom on a superb NRL career.

He's joint 3rd try scorer in the NRL this year. I am sure he'll be fine for now.

just finishing off slick moves and adding not much more wont wash for long - not at the roosters - the suggestion he could move to centre after the bizarre performances on the wing concerning passing and defending  would be a gamble

I know Bono and he knows Ono and she knows Enos phone goes thus

He came through as a centre originally, rather than a winger so it isn't too much of a surprise. It is also a very different position to defend in compared to the wing. 

If you watch the Roosters game and don't think that Young adds much then I don't know. 

He may not always be making huge breaks like some other wingers, but he makes decent carries coming out of his own end to help his team, which is half of a wingers job. And then he clearly finishes those chances that people make him, even with over half the year not having a recognised centre (that is known for passing) on his inside.

Before last week I had the Roosters a massive chance to win the comp , i really fancied them . Now I don’t see them budging Storm or Panthers , bad luck for them when they needed it least

Forget this year, Young is always going to play when fit with Nawaqanitawase 3 or 4 games into his League career.

Next year is the interesting one.  The Roosters have signed a very exciting winger while having Young and Tupou... at the same time losing both their first choice centres in Manu and Sua'ali'i.

So, what do they do?  Tupou won't become a centre this late in his career but will they look to transition Nawaqanitawase or Young to the centre.

Anyway, will be interesting to watch.  And Young will be OK, he is one of the best athletes in the NRL and a game winner.

Nawaqanitawase has also played at centre, albeit only in Rugby Union.

Farnworth "owned" by Bradman Best in a quiet performance in an underperforming Dolphins outfit this morning

I know Bono and he knows Ono and she knows Enos phone goes thus

Herbie Farnworth comfortably outperformed Bradman Best this morning with twice as many run meters, over twice as many post contact meters and 5 times as many tackle busts as Best.

Unfortunately for Farnworth the Dolphins same short and they won't play finals this year.
