I've had a few likes on social media for sharing the WatchNRL link with people getting excited by seeing the Sevens for the first time and wanting to see more "Rugby".

The street skateboarding is, as someone who has seen Tony Hawk and plenty of other stunt riders and many terrible Eighties movies, absolutely pitiful.
Tame, lame flips and grinds on obstacles just a few inches high are received with rapturous applause and medals. Am I missing something?

I’m no expert but I think that this was street Skateboarding whereas Mr Hawk was more a Half Pipe skater.

I know the difference, but I still genuinely expected something less "meh" from the street skating.  This is unbelievably vanilla.

Tom Daley and his partner got Olympic silver.

I enjoy watching the diving, but I always find anything with judges a bit frustrating (see boxing).

For instance, did anyone see the first medal we got in the diving? It was a bronze that we got after Australia bombed their last dive. However, if you looked at the scoring, one judge gave them an 8.0 for execution and another 4.0. How could there be such a wide variance?

Finally a good for Team GB!

I'm a huge horsey jumping over fences fan.

A good, Max? 😉

I've watched showjumping my whole life because my mother is a big fan of anything horse related because she was a horsey olympian in training when she was a teenager and won a couple of amateur competitions before giving it up.

Yes and another epic good in the mountain-biking! 🤣

Tom Pidcock takes gold in the men's cross country mountain biking after a great contest between him and the French rider Koretzky. The bike handling skills have to be seen to be believed.

I see bike handling skills like this every evening on the streets of my beloved East Yorkshire when the hooligans have been let loose from the schools! We start training them up young in this country and we'll be winning these mountain biking medals for decades to come!

Yeah, some of those wheelies the local kids pull are pretty impressive.

I was gonna post too but I held off in case of a DQ after that coming together.

Yeh I was a bit worried...

Nobody seemed that concerned, and to be fair to come back after a puncture like that he totally deserved it!

It was a phenomenal ride from Tom, coming back like that after a puncture, it did just seem like a coming together but its the Olympics and if the host nation put in an appeal, you just never know.

I see some kids where they seem to be wheelieing (is that a word?) more than not when they're going along the wrong side of the road or down a pavement straight towards an old biddy.

The vaguely neutral commentators on Eurosport - different, I think, to the BBC - seemed to think it was fine.

Luckily caught the last 5 or so minutes of that mountain bike race - what a finish!

Indeed , the booing from the French supporters was a bit off , similar to Waterloo.

One nightmare high bar routine and China throw the men's team gymnastics gold away. A cruel sport.

I try to avoid anything that involves judging. Unfortunately I think that the BBC tend to often give these sports more than a fair bit of airtime (diving, dressage, boxing, gymnastics etc). Especially as I don't have enough of an understanding so can't even get grumpy or argumentative about judges scoring.

Also, after having managed to avoid the 7s they are showing it on BBC whilst I'm waiting for the mtb. The commentary has been turned off pretty quickly. Some of the handling is questionable.

The US are lacking technically but physically monstered GB. Would love to see some of them playing League. Get some women's games in Vegas and try and promote that a bit?

Like the Australia v England women's test that's already scheduled for Vegas next year?
