I rather saw it like that as well.

Field was still sliding and in movement. Burgess is surely entitled to go in and complete the tackle.

That was an incorrect call. The player was sliding and the tackle was not completed and as you say Burgess was perfectly fine to get involved until the player comes to a stop and is held.

The ref clearly binned him for that offence. One which was never committed.

Not even fortunate or a 50/50. Just plainly a poor decision.

Just like the ball hitting Burgess’s foot being missed.

The strip with 3 players on the KR forward and ball shooting 10 ft in the air given as a lost ball.

That’s too many incorrect decisions in a game and it needs addressing. The officials have a hard job and do the best they can but these things aren’t good at all.

Indeed. Wigan weren't exactly set up to attack quickly - Burgess had no need to flop and lay on there to slow it down.

He didn't flop and he was the first tackler up.

Here's a highly controversial view. Why not enjoy the game, the skill, the excitement, rather than trying to find fault with the refs decisions?

A few vinegar-titted examples of ignoring the OP, but most of us are enjoying an exciting and unpredictable game.

Lisa Nandy's being interviewed at HT. Not sure the wretched Dorries would have come to a RL match. A blessing, really.

Just saw the Burgess yellow again.

Never in a million years a sin-binning. He goes in to tackle, manages it beautifully, gets off before the other defender, and goes to get up. It was the other KR tackler who held on to ankles, as I think he is entitled to.

Really good defence from Burgess, unfairly penalised.

Give over.

Wasn't she present at the world cup launch, and started talking about Johnny Wilkinsons drop goal?

If the ball carrier was sliding over the try line, you wouldn't even think of suggesting the tackle was complete. It wasn't. Burgess was not only entitled, but obligated to join the tackle.

I've only seen a Twitter clip though - is the suggestion that the sin-bin offense wasn't a flop, but a "lying-on"?

Burgess was the first tackler up. It was the wrong call clearly IMO.

What has him being the first tackler up got to do with it? He got up as the penalty was blown. The ref decided he laid on for too long after his tackle/"flop".

My brain had excised that particularly imbecilic comment from Nadine, but it wasn't actually at a match. It was much worse.

What a stupid late shot on the kicker.

That could easily have been yellow.

I thought he got there quick enough that if he had tackled him, it would be fine.

But late enough that just hitting him is .. well clearly a penalty, very borderline if it should be a yellow IMO.

Field wasn't looking to get up and Burgess was up in plenty of time.

Never a yellow IMO.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree.

Happy to agree to disagree.. Just saying that it doesn't matter if Field is thrashing about on the floor or not - Even more reason for Burgess to just get off him as Field wasn't exactly looking for a quick PTB.  😉

Ok I am done 😂

Wigan definitely look more dangerous in broken play, don't really look as capable of breaking Rovers down in a set move.

They need to move the ball around, create more chances through offloads, etc.

Agreed, Wigan's strike vs KR's connectedness.

The ref said in his explanation that "you flopped and then you laid ontop of him" (I cannot recall his exact words)

The flop alone wasn't what the yellow was for.

There was never a flop.

There may have been a laying-on. It wasn't on the Twitter clip.

I have no issue with that.
