Right. That's it for 2024. Everyone over to the IMG gradings thread until the season starts again.😄

The "Dark Ages" is a term referring to life at the RFL under the new regime. It's characterized by a decline in openness, professionalism, transparency and  achievements,

I'm no expert, but that seems weird to me. Either the wingers has not attempted to stay on feet = surrender penalty, or it's fine and the defenders need to be ready to defend at PTB, not hold them down.

The rule is "surrender tackle" - i.e. a player has surrendered into the tackle, rather than attempt to right.

There is the long debated rule around a player just diving onto the ground before a tackle, but this is different as the tackle has been initated and the attacker has chosen (by the referees judgement) to surrender in order to gain some kind of advantage.

Another situation you often see it is when players gather a ball near a touchline and they don't want to risk getting up and being pushed out, a surrender call is made so the defenders can lay on longer.

I think Luai going back to apologise sort of gave the game away.

Some outstanding performances in defence and attack from England. Good win. Lots of improvement as a team and for one or two. Good spirit though. The outstanding ones over the series were obviously Farnworth, Williams, Smith. I thought all the forwards were solid. Harry Newman will have to contribute more for me, as will Welsby. Encouraging though.

This has been a great day for international league.

Samoa are a good side, and polishing them off 2 nil shows how much talent we have. And possibly that Wane is a better technical coach than had been hitherto apparent. Every England player we have seen over the last 2 weeks has shown themselves to be worth being in the mix for the Ashes, and the World Cup.

All our problems - with loads more good players likely to be in the frame next year - are very much good ones to have.

Again, this is proof positive that the players we see every week in Super League are supremely talented. We are lucky to watch the Greatest Game, and see world class players every week up here.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how more open we played under him in these 2 games, much less relient on formulaic, system based sets of 6. Been great to watch.

Who did you think was the best prop today?

Said it earlier Dunny, May was the best prop for me played like an old fashioned ball playing prop taking out a couple of defenders with his power then offloading very well.

I'm sure Jarome Luai will personally thank England for acclimatising him for next year's results at Wests Tigers.

How refreshing that Herbie has not developed the Aussie twang, especially being he went over at such a young age.

I was thinking that you could hear quite a bit of Aussie creeping into his accent, haha...

Obviously it is hard to predict what players are in form, etc come next year for Australia, I don't know if Clark will still be able to put in the performances of this year next.

But. Assuming it is the same 6, 7 & 9 - I don't think we can afford to have Lewis on the bench over an actual hooker, as good of a player he is, I don't think he is able to play "his" game coming on for 20 minutes at the end, a specialist hooker would be so much more effective.

Was about to post exactly the same thing, I love Lewis and would prefer him on the pitch but carrying him on the bench ahead of a forward or hooker against Australia or NZ would be a mistake.

Just watched the whole game without audio as I didn't want the Kiwis vs Tonga result to be spoilered. We have so little International game in RL that any game is just Champions League-like important. As said before, it’s a shame it’s not a 3 game test series, although I expected a little more from Samoa. They would have been at their best in the 3rd game, having spent more time together in camp. Still it’s a shame there aren’t any more England games this Autumn. A game v France or Wales – although a games vs Wales would be very onesided nowadays – would have helped and maybe some young players would have some more test RL experience. Having the lads in camp for a week more would have helped for future challenges. We need to be more “creative”, I understand there can be only one International window due to England being the only competitive team in the Northern Hemisphere, but we could do something more.
On tv, it looked like a good test in a proper rugby league venue. Need to be more ambitious next year, as the Ashes being played again is an iconic and rare event. I wanna be there for the London test and I wanna struggle to find the ticket: it’d mean it’s a success.
In addition to this, England v All Blacks is “the event” of today (I don’t live in the UK but I can imagin the RU test dominating sport pages with Premier League football) and it’s a shame too. But I wanna be optimistic and believe the game being on the BBC helped.
Now, with this test series win for England heliping us in being optimistic, I want the new club season. I want the English players being “in contention for representing England in the Ashes” all season long.

Do you mean the Dolphins that finished 10th this season, and Brisbane that finished 12th?

I don't understand what you're saying - So Farnworth helped Broncos get to the GF, they lost.

He then leaves and they turn into a worse team than the team Farnworth goes to.

What is he missing out on exactly that he can't build at the Dolphins?

He was definitely one of Samoa's best.
