Have Nigeria played many games this year?

No.  They've not played since 2022.

And any Nigerian based players may well need a cap or two if they were to play in the UK.

Just shows how slack the IRL are. Nigeria should be developed as much as possible. Even if that just means helping them to organise games and play in tournaments

The only way players will ever be good enough in Africa is if they are exposed to the game at a young age and can progress through a competitive structure. That takes time to set up and maintain. Whether clubs can afford to assist or have the patience to do so is questionable but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

Using Junior Nsemba as an example shows the potential but he did come through the English system.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Is it slackness or lack of resource? They’re hardly FIFA.

Is there any other system other than English, French, Aus or Kiwi?

Does any other country actually produce an elite SL or NRL player other than the odd anomaly?

If we manage to get an international team of note from outside those 4 nations they will still majority have come through the systems of those 4 countries. I enjoy the heritage teams and they add a bit of flavour and variety but until we, as a sport, get another country with a 'system' then we won't progress.

What about an Atlantic cup for USA, Jamaica, Nigeria, France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Could potentially add Canada, South Africa, Ghana and Cameroon.
Doesn’t have to be every year. Could every 2 years

Sounds good on paper but money is the issue, there just isn't remotely enough circulating to be flying tier 2/3 nations all over the western hemisphere.

There are just two leagues that produce all the elite players. French and NZ comps are feeders for those two, especially the latter.

You're right about getting more top flight leagues but the modern game is so fine tuned that I can't see any expansion in that regard. The rules would need changing to give any hope of that and even then unlikely to do much.

Arguably Fiji, although not all born and raised Fijians come through the domestic structure. The Silktails is helping though.
