Please could someone at Total RL have a word with whoever runs the website and do something about these pop-up scam ads? It's getting ridiculous now and making articles unreadable.

Trying to read an article and it's full of pop-ups about Kate Garraway and Naga Munchetty

Isn't each user's selection of ads driven by their own browsing history?

The scam ones will be familiar to anyone who has seen them on local newspaper sites. They are not always linked to browser history.

They are trying to make money as it's the only way some websites make anything.

The issue is their increasing invasiveness. There are many sites now that have ads aggressively popping up and their content constantly moving around. Even videos start running on some. I give up reading an article if I can't concentrate properly with these distractions. Consumerism is about convincing you to part with your money so I don't see it changing unless their aggressive tactics become counterproductive.

My blogs are advert free zones. I refuse to allow adverts because it's a labour of love, not a business and I want the content to be the focus. I do get many 'comments' left there that are straight out adverts which all get binned.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Ahhhh! That’s why whenever I log onto to the site I am always seeing ads of Carol Vorderman in a skimpy Cas top smothered in peanut butter!

Best stop looking at Peanut Butter sites then.

I am in my latter years and am very careful not to click on to a site i don't know.Same with scam calls i have had plenty but so far so good.I think 46 years working in Betting shops was beneficial in that department.I  had plenty trying it on over the years and can honestly say only got done once from a true professional who made his living that way.

Given you only signed up a month ago and have made 7 posts surely it’s not that bad?

Seriously, if the software TRL are using leads to scam ads, this is not the software they should be using.
