T’Other Side:  Dewsbury Rams

fevnut has posted ‘T’Other Side:  Dewsbury Rams’, our comprehensive guide to our next pre-season opponents.

In it we include their 2025 squad and their new signings for this season.

Other features include profiles of their coach and captain and a section that takes a look at players who have played for them and played for Fev as well.

A good hit out v Goole from what I've seen so far. 18 of the squad used and two trialists also.

More of the same against Dewsbury no doubt. The pitch could be even heavier after last night.

Maybe some of the players who didn't appear against Goole will get a run out.

Having drawn another amateur club in the Cup 3rd round (assuming we win our second round tie) that will feel like five pre-season warm ups before the league kicks off.

2 changes to the 22-man squad as Carlos Tuimavave and Bailey O'Connor are added and Brad Day and Maddox Jeffrey drop out. Day's absence isn't surprising given he left the field after suffering what appeared to be an injury to his arm/elbow against Goole, let's hope he's ok.

If the 1-13 is a guide, we will see Olpherts and Tuimavave make their debuts for the club and Reynolds will get a start too, whilst Hardcastle looks set to switch to the back row to fill in for Day.

FEV v DEWSBURY RAMS: SQUADS

fevnut has published ‘Fev v Dewsbury Rams squads’.

We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads, so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs.

We also include a chart showing the leading scorers for both teams.

I don’t want to be picky but dan Clarke is  a half back not second row and Louie walker is a fullback/half 👍

Saturdays have never been better than Sunday for attendances and a 4.0pm kick off is plain stupid.

Can't go because of the stupid KO time.

Genuine question, why is 4pm a stupid kick off time?

Too many other things going on at that time on a Saturday afternoon.Plus  some people will be working probably the worst day and time that could have been chosen.Whoever thought of it has no idea about supporters preferences.

You could say that about any time. For instance Leeds are at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday lunchtime and given a lot of Fev fans also follow Leeds you could argue that would impact the attendance. And in 2025 people work on Sundays too.

Do you know why the game is being played on the Saturday? I don't, which is why I wouldn't call it a stupid decision - there may be a very good reason for it. I don't disgree that Saturdays in general will probably produce smaller crowds than Sundays, but it's hard to have a balanced view on individual decisions without knowing the reasons.

Because it doesn't suit me!

haha at least you're honest!
I'm not sure that logging into the TotalRL forum and asking Lingaro when he'd like the games to be played is a sustainable format though.

I would never had considered a kick off of 1600 on a Saturday as we never normally schedule games for thus time and day.  I have piano lessons at this time and would purely as is doesn't clash with Rugby on a weekend!

I only found out thr kick off time on Tuesday and it's not fair expecting my teacher to work around me at short notice

That's why I think it's stupid.

The game and kick off time was announced on 13th December and hasn't been changed since.

That said, I think it's fair to say that our website is rather lacking in information in some aspects - the full season schedule still isn't up there and the "team" list is still last year's.

Still no club accounts  submitted i would bet although i have not checked.Do we know what the £2 million from Wakefield district council has been spent on.We can see the Wakefield and Cas ground improvements but never heard where Rovers money has gone.Like i said earlier if i was a Wakefield council tax payer i would ask for details.

Why have you brought this up as a reply to my post about the kick off time for the game that this thread is about?

I asked about this on the Bluewall Facebook group and was send by a reputable person, that it’s in hand.

Many different opinions all have some credence but it depends on personal circumstances. I missed going to the Goole game because of the weather and my poor ability of driving in darkness. I am going to the Dewsbury match as the circumstances are better for me. Whatever the decisions made by the people who make them there are good points for some and poor points for others. UTR

Back to the squad on duty, we again have three front rowers, Akauola, King and Arnold missing. I’ve no idea if they’re injured but you would assume that if they’re not we’d want to get some game time into them. So are we going into the competitive matches light in the front row which would be a concern.

Addy too, so that's four of our regular middles. Arnold has a knock but my guess is that Fordy wants to keep some of our "senior" middles as fresh as possible at this stage of the season - perhaps we will see them against Huddersfield?
