Think its more pre-season training has shown he is not recovering well from his serious injury. Yes it clears cap money but they would have done it a lot sooner if a decent player was available. 2 Visit my photography site www.padge.smugmug.com Radio 5 Live: Saturday 14 April 2007 Dave Whelan "In Wigan rugby will always be king" This country's wealth was created by men in overalls, it was destroyed by men in suits.

I wonder who Wigan might want from Salford's overseas roster...

I suspect that Wigan’s MO is a little less haphazard than other SL clubs we could name. https://wiganwarriors.com/blog/2024/10/04/isa-signs-one-year-extension-2/ http://www.wiganstpats.org Producing Players Since 1910
ELBOWSEYE Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Good career, served Wigan and Widnes well Always thought he played above his weight with plenty of aggression, even though I am a wire I always admired his competitive and combative attitude. 3

He is only just back doing contact etc. It sounds like he's been given an opportunity to set himself up outside rugby and at his age is right to take it. Being absolutely hard nosed about it its pretty surprising Wigan gave him a new contract when they did but they do like to look after their players and Isa is a popular member of the squad. 3

What I thought actually. I wondered why he was signed in the first place to be frank, but I think he’s shown his worth and why that early confidence was shown. He deserves whatever comes next. http://www.wiganstpats.org Producing Players Since 1910

He's apparently said his injury is fine and he was fit to go from round 1 but this opportunity away from the pitch is too good to turn down. I'm glad he's got himself set up and will leave on his terms. He's been a great servant. People were skeptical when he signed but he went way past anyones expectations and has played a major part in the successes the club has had over his time. 1

Not yet, clubs with salary cap and/or quota space are being given first go. A short list of clubs which until yesterday didn't include Wigan.

He didn't, he said he has been able to return to contact training, don't see anything about being good to go at full match fitness. Yes. He wasn't particularly a stand-out in the relegated 2015 Widnes team, and I think most people were surprised that Wigan signed him. Got to give Shaun Wane a lot of credit for that. I doubt anyone thought he'd still be there 10 years later at the age of 36 with medals from Grand Finals, Challenge Cup and a couple of World Club Challenges to his name. I hope he as much success with whatever he does next. 1
JohnM Posted January 24 Posted January 24 A revolutionary thought: why can't we for once take something at face value? 1

What will prove you right - Wigan signing another back rower? That's just obvious isn't it, if it does happen? If they go on to sign a winger then you could cast some doubt, but even then if there's cap space they're free to use it. None of that points to this being suss. In the NRL, some players being medically retired at convenient times has been questionable, but again, this isn't that.

It was a comment I'd seen elsewhere from somebody who said they'd spoken to him. Either way, his suggestions seem to be that it isn't the injury that has forced retirement and more an opportunity that has come up elsewhere. I've read a rumour about it being in Womens football (presumably not playing).

The press release doesn't mention him struggling to come back from the injury, which is what you suggested, so maybe the bloke in the pub put his own spin on things as well.

The press release did not mention he was fit to play only he was fit enough for contact training, a strange choice of words, if he was fit to play why not state the fact. Also do you know what use of the word 'think' means, I didn't state he wasn't fit. You on the other head said you had read (therefore third party) that a bloke (no named source) had spoken to him (no evidence) and had said he was fit to play, why wasn't that fact in the press release. My thoughts however where mine concluded from the statement in the official press release. You're an argumentative soul aren't you You strangely took some sort of offence to me saying I'd read somebody saying he'd be back for round one, rather than you guessing he was struggling with the injury.I have no clue if it's true but Isa himself has confirmed he was back in full training and that the injury isn't why he's called it quits, it was simply a case of him having been given a great job opportunity. It all points to your 'thoughts' about him struggling to come back from the injury being incorrect but you plod on lad. We best stop boring people now.
