A bit of a change - it is on BBC One nationally  :O on Sunday night at 11:40pm, after Match of the Day. Regional repeat on Monday.

So the Sunday broadcast should pick up some viewers from MotD.

Good pick up, thanks.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

So why is this time slot not available every week?

Apparently approx 1million viewers for this. Are the BBC still going to claim there's no interest for the game nationally?

You have three guesses:

1.Yes

2.Yes

3.What is Rugby League, anyway?

The thing is the SLS is an easy win for the BBC in terms of filling their "regional programming" quotas - if it went national then that's 45 mins extra regional specific material to find - again the SLS is hard to replace as I imagine it has quite a loyal audience, which will play well on pie charts on BBC meetings about engaging with regional audiences when usually - news apart - a lot of people run a mile from local shows

SQL Honours

Play off mini league winner - 2002. Bronze Medalist - 2003. Big Split Group Winner - 2006. Minor Stupidship - 2005, 2006. Cup Silver Medalist - 2008, 2009

CHAMPION - 2005, 2009, 2010

That's a very good point. Hadn't realised that before.

only in 4 regions though.. shouldn't be too tough.

Easier said than done - If anything that's worse as that's four separate regions they have to find replacement content for as I doubt anything will be as "blanket" as RL across those regions.

(By the way, I agree the Super League Show should be national, but the way that TV and in particular the BBC works I'm playing devil's advocate by pointing out it's very unlikely to happen whilst they have regional quotas to hit)

I don't think it fills any sort of regional quota though - none of the other English regions are producing a similar amount of regional content, so if it wasn't shown I doubt they'd need to find more regional content to replace it. Aren't the other regions simply showing repeats when the SLS show is on? And it's not strictly a regional show anyway as it's shown in 4 different regions and repeated nationally on Tuesdays.

It is a regional show, despite the national repeat - some regional (non-news) programming gets a national repeat later down the line yet still counts as regional as the original audience was. I'm pretty sure it does cover the regional quota too - at least I remember reading about it in one of the trade mags, in not the most recent TV contract negotiation but the one before - things may have changed, but I suspect they haven't.

I will say they maybe wouldn't replace SLS if they went nationally as I suspect the BBC create more regional content than they are legally obliged to, to be on the safe side - but it'd be a massive chunk out of it to make the SLS a primarily national show. When you think about just how many restrictions their are on the beeb and how they spend their money and where, it's not exactly a huge leap of logic to understand why they keep it regional, annoying as it is to RL fans.

Wasn't expecting the Monday night showing to be a re-run of Sunday.

40 mins of Saints v Souths then about 6 mins between the other 2 games which I think is very poor. Why not 15 mins of each game?

Because in the eyes of the general public the first two games were friendlies and the one that had a trophy riding on it was St Helens v South Sidney

Talking of regional TV. Rugby League seems to have a RL chat show Rugby AM on Leeds TV station: made in Leeds. Not sure how far the channel is broadcast, it appears to be chat show, not sure if it has any footage.

If you check on Twitter, there are a few RL shows (mostly audio and occasional video) who post when their latest episode is online.

Maybe don't venture into the Online world as often as I should.

However as of Free to Air TV, I am not aware of any other shows going apart from the BBC ones

Pretty sure that on one of the rare occasions I've tuned in the presenter said it was broadcast on all 'Made In' channels across the North.

That'll be 2 channels then - Leeds and Tyne & Wear. Rugby AM is broadcast on Premier Sports as well.
