British storm names

Recommended Posts

We've had Abigail, Barney, Clodagh Desmond, Eva, Frank, Gertrude and Henry.

Now we're suffering storm Imogen.

Next, we can look forward to Jake, Katie, Lawrence, Mary, Nigel, Orla, Phil, Rhonda, Steve, Tegan, Vernon and Wendy.

Reading through that lot you'd struggle to believe that we live in a multi-cultural society. Mere co-incidence?

Don't you have better things to worry about than looking for things that aren't there.

Met Office and their Irish counterparts.  I believe there was a vote on it - which you have to assume was only open to polite, middle class types.

Should have named it after politicians.  "That bloody Maggie's done it again!"  "Oh ffs Dave, just sod off".

I wondered about the "season"

Hurricane seasons run from I believe 1st June when the designated letter A is used for the first Hurricane of the year.

As we have storms throughout the year I wondered when our season starts. It seems from a Google search that our storm season starts in November.

Tegan, eh? So Thorgerson misses out yet again...
