Brexit the positive thread

Recommended Posts

Talking to a guy that had a fishing boat nxt to mine , he said the price he was getting for lobster had gone up £3.50 a kilo . Thats a big increase . Spanish/French merchants cant get enough of British shellfish . He also said the chinese are looking at exporting shellfish from uk into Asian markets . If that takes off it will be a game changer for lots of small inshore boats .

Given the size of the Asian market if that takes off our inshore waters will be a barren desert within a decade without suitable regulation.

Agree , wouldnt even take a decade .The uk shellfisheries could be the most policed fishery in the world . Also 95% of fisherfolk welcome this and work with the local fishery officers . Lots of local 'green'things are happening along the British coast . Have a look on the North Eastern Fisheries web site , they have rules and regs from the low water mark out to the 6 - 12 mile markers . Each area around the UK coast line have similar bodies that enforce common rules and regs , but are flexible to local needs .

East Yorkshire Coast Shellfishers have minimum landing sizes for all shell fish and fish , need permit , need escape hatches on pots , cant land Vnotched lobsters , cant land berried hen crabs . Most boats V notch lobsters that are not required for the markets ie - Extra large lobsters , soft lobsters . Green industry that is showing large parts of the world how to manage local fisheries . Lots more to be done .

Think leaving the EU is going to be easy? This may make you think again:

You got sick of being told "you lost yet" Griff?

Or tired of having it pointed out that "its democracy"?

Or been repeatedly told you're a whinger and should "suck it up and be positive"?

No?

Me neither

Nope. Just trying to spread the light of reality into the darkness of delusion. :D

Not sure you can claim that as a result of brexit; I first heard about it some time ago and this sort of thing doesn't happen overnight, they will have been in planning for many months before.

Still, good to see it making a comeback to the region. Quality specialism such as this are probably the way forward for manufacturing in this country.

Good to see David Allen Green's Waiting for Godot joke has made it into the MSM: Brexit - a leap of faith or good old English fudge?

"ESTRAGON: Well, shall we Leave?

VLADIMIR: Yes, let’s Leave.

(They do not send the Article 50 Notification.)"

Hey, if all the ills of the economy (real and perceived) can be blamed on Brexit, as some appear to be doing, then all the good news can be blamed on Brexit too!  After all, the ills of the economy have been around for eight years but nobody seems to take that into consideration at the moment so what's a few months of planning by comparison?

Its amazing how they are thriving whilst being choked by EU red tape and over regulation.  Once those rules go in 4, 5, 6 years time we will see a massive boost i'm sure.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Shouldn't this have all been thought of before and presented to the voters?

There is still the disagreement about whose job it should have been.  Leave would say they did not have to make plans and that Remain kept coming up with negative stories.  Remain should therefore have come up with a positive plan that would make leave a good idea, but clearly could not have believed that.

It was and always should have been the governments responsibility to plan for both eventualities of the vote. It was Cameron's arrogance to believe he couldn't lose and his complete incompetence to not plan for a leave result that's now causing such a delay in triggering A50.

Cameron had until the end of 2017 to call the Referendum. If he'd come out and set a date of say June 2017 it would have given both sides more time to better prepare. Instead he called the vote as early as possible meaning the entire campaign was focussed on scare tactics (from both sides) rather than factual discussion based on realistic plans.

Given the vote could only go one of 2 ways it was staggeringly incompetent for Cameron to have not instructed the Civil service to at least have started planning for a possible withdrawal from the EU. Cameron has a lot to answer for with the way he conducted the whole referendum.

The remainers will despise him for taking us out of the EU, the Leavers will despise him for failing to do any planning.

While I agree with much you say, especially about Cameron's arrogance and stupidity I do think that perhaps UKIP could have come up with some sort of plan over the last 23 years, they've had nothing else to do.
