I really don't like it when someone starts a topic with an ex players name and no context. Especially when said ex player is nearly 90 years old.

I’ve heard this recording before but still interesting listening.  Signed on for free a promise of £8 a win £5 a loss and the signing was for life!  

Also, on signing guaranteed a 1st team game and he was in the 1st team for the next 15 years. Never dropped.

Me too. Met Johnny Whiteley on Boxing Day last year in The Legends Hospitality Lounge at the M’bro v Sheffield Wed Football game. What a lovely man.
