The Ex stadium manager, who had been maintenance manager  said it was and I’d be taking his word over yours GJ.  Like BSJohnny said, that will have risen since the report.

IMO it’ll be sold in the next year or two.

so if i went to a match there i would be in danger of what exactly?

Why don't you ask the engineers who condemned it.  Do you know the condition of the ground underneath the terraces?  Are the stands, which are 100 years old sitting on geologically stable ground or has water, poor maintenance, etc reduced their stability?

Does the site conform to fire code?  Which we have for very good reasons!

I think even if they were inclined to Bradford Council has far more pressing matters to spend it's meagre resources on in these uncertain times than getting involved in a community stadium, however with Councils basic common sense rarely comes into play😐

I think before the pandemic they could have done it. People go on about obesity crisis and sport and exercise being good for mental health, maybe a community stadium complex could have helped there. York, Leigh and development at Elland Road are examples of how to do it and how it can work

The council is led  by a bunch a bunch of Philistines. They have had one good idea in five years, buying the beautiful stone Marks and Spencer building to rehouse the city market. It has everything you could want for a market ... escalators, lifts, three large open floors  and a large warehouse that is linked by a gantry from across the neighbouring street. Now, it has decided to knock it down and build an anytown  glass-and-chrome shed to house the market. This was announced as a fait accompli.

The Odsal estate includes the recently-closed Richard Dunn sports centre and both are 800 yards from a motorway junction. The council sees Odsal as a saleable asset rather than a treasured historic sportsfield.

It carries history. But should now be part of it.

Tonnes of ways to preserve the History.  Lansdowne where the new Ottawa club is supposed to play was a historic ground and they have preserved some of the site.

They have kept the old Agricultural Expo building and also added tonnes of green space, shops, condos, etc to the site.

Actually, the council cries wolf over finances. A couple of years ago, it spent a fortune on repairs to a large city centre office block that it owned. Then, last year it knocked it down to create a new office park on the site. So far, no sign of a developer or the money for the council to build the replacement itself. The same council knocked down about a sizeable proportion of the commercial area to build a new shoppers paradise. We have ended up with a smaller-than-trumpeted shopping centre after having a quarry-sized hole in the ground for  10 years. God knows how much the city lost in business rates and the shopping scene has never recovered.

The MP's for Shipley and Keighley/Ilkley are calling for those towns to be devolved from the Metropolitan Council

A new ground doesn’t take away the history of the club. No matter where they play.

Times change and costs become more relevant. To rent simply means the cost of maintenance is passed on.

But also clarifies where the monies are going.

It's actually not very common here for clubs to own their stadiums.  Even in Ice Hockey, only a few clubs like Toronto and Montreal (who are basically EPL level in terms of wealth) own their own stadiums.

Most of the time it's City Councils that own them and they are for mixed use.  An exception to this would be Colleges who often own their own stadiums but College Sport in NA is mostly self-funding. American and Canadian College Football is a money making affair for schools here.

Could have had a nice new complex for the Bulls, Park Avenue and Dudley Hill.

Aren’t West Bowling ARL going to play at Horsfall? I saw it mentioned back in February, and West Bowling’s social media has recent pics of their volunteers sprucing up Horsfall.

Is there room (given the overlap of the football and NCL seasons) for Dudley Hill as well?

By whom though?

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Bradford likes a good hole in the ground! Besides Odsal it's been overseeing one in Keighley that also was planned to be a shopping centre for 10 years. Of course its good that our tory mp's are finally getting round to what their constituents have been wanting for the last 45 years.
