He's australian, wants to go home and would switch to Aus if they came knocking. So no. Plus next year when he is bk in NRL he wont care about playing for Eng. It damages the game in sport if English players find themselves overlooked. Looking at the halves in NRL and where West’s are headed at the moment, the chances of him getting SOO or Kangaroos call up look minuscule. 15 hours ago, ShropshireBull said: I know. I meant if Aus asked now, he'd switch in a heartbeat. Lets find an English lad. The way England have got lads to switch from Scotland, Wales, Ireland etc. in the past, I don’t think we should be throwing stones in that particular glass house.

Again, you can’t switch between tier 1 Nations. Once you represent England, Australia or New Zealand you can no longer switch to another one of those Nations. Hastings has made exactly the commitment demanded from some fans, only to then be dismissed.

I don't know if Hastings is the answer but given the players we have played there in the last 4 years... God give me strength Hastings is the last one to represent GB in the No 7 shirt in 4 games, should he be keep being selected (albeit for the same team under a different name) till he eventually has a good game, even his mum and dad would have to admit he was complete sh-ite for GB, it could be he is not cut out for the International stage, on his past form he should be nowhere near selection, if selected though he wouldn't be the first to be kept giving another go internationally only to keep failing time and time again. We would not be having this discussion now if he had produced the kind of form on the GB tour that made him impossible to leave out, but he didn't, I agree with Mr Wane in leaving him at one side, plus I don't want any foreign national's in the England team, barring those who have lived most of their life here and come up through our system, like Ben Stokes has done in cricket, he is all but English except for his place of birth.

Hard for any halfback to shine when your forwards are getting battered and of the halfbacks named who will do that job,? Gale who’s hardly stepped on a field in 3 yrs ? Williams who is struggling to find his best form this year ? Lomax who has hardly played halfback at test level and has a poor kicking game ? If he is the best halfback England have got (and personally I think he probably will be) then pick him.

Dunbar
43 minutes ago, graveyard johnny said: inside pass - kick Is that Williams or is that the way that the Raiders play and he has been coached to play though? The last thing you would say about Williams when he left Wigan was he was predictable. In fact, despite his obvious skill set, the big worry was that he wasn't structured enough to manage a team and was a bit of a maverick. If he has lost that and is now playing in a predictable way, that is down to the coach and his instructions. DavidM
He’s such a talented player , a lot of it natural . He’s at his best playing what he sees and playing direct . He’s a running and creative threat , but at times he’s sort of aimlessly playing lateral way in front of the defence and tipping it back inside , a popular move but one thats hardly ever confused a defence . The Raiders attack can look really blunt and predictable . Someone like Williams needs freeing up rather than shackled to a rigid set of instructions . I think dropping Hodgson is part of all this , but at present Stuart seems confused and searching around for the answers to how he can unlock and maximise the Raiders undoubted potential . It was there , he’s moving pieces around trying to get their mojo back . Lot on williams and wighton tomorrow Edited April 28, 2021 by DavidM
Sir Kevin Sinfield
Brian Carney has called for Wane to drop the Nationalist nonsense of preferring English born players and to pick the best players who commit to the side and qualify. This was in response to Jackson Hastings admission, Jackson Hastings has liked the video clip on social media showing he is clearly in agreement with Carney. Well said Brian. I know he qualifies and I know other nations and other sports do it but it just completely devalues the whole concept of international sport for me. Isn't it supposed to be our best players against their best players and, in the end, he is one of theirs. 1 "The history of the world is the history of the triumph of the heartless over the mindless." — Sir Humphrey Appleby.
