5,872 with 1,444 from Wakefield on Friday. 👏

Incidentally, the biggest attendance between these 2 outside of magic weekend since 2017 when 6,337 were present at the John Smiths- no doubt boosted by Wakefield's biggest ever following to these parts.

Our previous home game V Castleford on 26th May was 4,206 with 361 from Castleford.

All away crowds at Huddersfield so far in 2023

Warrington 1,531

Castleford (1) 389

Wigan 1,027

St Helens 740

Leigh 877

Castleford (2) 361

Wakefield-1,444

That’s terrible from Cas given the short distance, even though their team is terrible this year.

To be fair, the first game was when we had really bad snow, it was a Friday night on Sky and really cold and miserable, the away crowds are usually a good indicator of how well a team is doing , using Cas as an example, they used to bring upwards of 1,000 when going well but haven't brought 1,000 since 2018.

Salford now bring a really good crowd over but it wasn't that long ago that their official followings were 72 and 244 😮

Which shows why it is beneficial for teams to have success every now and then , and not to be pinned down at the bottom constantly , IMG take note 😉

Isn’t it more a case of that’s terrible from Huddersfield. Open question but where does the future lie when a club regardless of success will never break 5k . Put Huddersfield’s team success and backing at Wakefield, Castleford , Bradford Widnes and you would be comfortably looking at 10k+. Not in any way shape of form trying to offend Huddersfield’s loyal supporters.

Even when Widnes were in their pomp they never averaged anywhere near 10,000 iirc. I doubt Wakey would either tbf.  I do feel a bit sorry for Ken Davy though, that they just can’t grow their crowds despite everything he’s done for the club, it’s a real shame.

I think that’s the real point , it’s such a shame that the town doesn’t get behind them .

Equally, put Huddersfield's attendances at Wakefield, Castleford, Widnes and there wouldn't be a discussion, everyone would be praising the loyalty, noise and passion of the Huddersfield fans.

I doubt any of those clubs would get 10,000 on a regular basis, Bradford used to do 20 years ago, Widnes, Wakefield and Castleford never have done.

Last time Huddersfield averaged less than 5,000 was in 2004, so not sure who will never break 5k?

Wakefield have managed to break 5,000 only twice in 10 years.

Castleford's averages are good but they've never been anywhere near 10,000.

Bradford last averaged 5,000 in 2015, the first season they came down, and haven't hit 10,000 in a decade and have seen 5 figure crowds for 11 of the last 50 seasons.

Widnes last had an average of 5,000 in 2017, the year before they were relegated and the nearest they came to averaging 10k was back in the late 60's.

Both Widnes and Bradford have been domestic and world champions in that time, Huddersfield have got a 3rd and 2nd divsion win in that time.

Hardly comparable

I think castleford and Wakefield in a decent stadium with reasonable success, I think the point is the attendances at Huddersfield’s just simply are never going to hit the big time .

So what?

Huddersfield get better crowds than Wakefield, Castleford, Bradford and Widnes, it doesn't matter what could be or what has been, it's another pointless dig at Huddersfield and their big stadium.

Only Bradford out of that lot would break 10k....and it would now probably take a trophy or two to get it

Castleford have been not far off in the not too distant past . If they had a John Smiths quality stadium they would certainly be pushing it . Bulls no problem. Wakefield have Also averaged 8k in the recent past in an utter S*it tip . The point is those teams with Huddersfield’s success and facilities would far exceed Huddersfield’s average and it’s reasonable to assume they would not be far off 5 figures.

It’s not a dig it’s a what if , Are Huddersfield ever going to grow there fan base and if not is that detrimental to the premier uk competition.

That's an excellent turnout from Wakey. Always like seeing fans get behind a struggling team.

Put Huddersfield’s ridiculously low season ticket prices at Wakefield or cas and our attendance would be a lot higher.  We did it under glover years ago got decent crowds just couldn’t afford it luckily for you, Ken can.  It’s a dangerous model though, cheapens the product and can take years to recover if you have to revert back to normal season ticket prices.

We then did a typical Wakefield Trinity thing and put in a terrible performance.  There is new optimism better recent performances and new ownership with if rumours are correct sounds very exciting.
