Is it time for some silly season threads

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see the founders of the worlds 13 largest religions play together. I'm sure there would there be a few miraculous performances, and once they got to be mates it might also solve a few of the worlds problems as a bonus.

With Judaism, Christianity and Islam all having Abrahamic roots, I feel we would get into a heritage mess with players switching teams too much.

True, they'd probably also argue endlessley over interpretation of the rules.

Popeye at Centre (Hand off specialist)

Brutus at prop

Billy Whizz on the wing

Speedy Gonzales at Fullback for his agility.

It is a silly season thread so acceptable but I am not sure these are all historical characters.

Of course they are, i remember them all.

That's a good point.  When do fictional characters from the past become historic.

I'm going for my third favourite fictional character to play edge forward... the comic strip character Garth.

Not Judas Iscariot as he was not a team player.

Albert Einstein as he might understand what the hell Phil Clarke is talking about.

William Webb Ellis who could explain to his thicko mates " NO after you are tackled you have to play the ball".

OK, here is my second question on the silly season thread.

If Superstars was brought back, which player would best represent Rugby League - who is the best all round athlete in our sport do we think? (thinking UK but can extend to other nations).
