Must be an injury as he didn’t play NSW cup.

You don’t think as Gamble is returning from injury it’s just a straight replacement? Pryce was training in the pregame warm up and looked fine.

I’d assume it’s an injury because he didn’t play NSW cup. If not and he did get dropped before kick off, incrediblely unfair decision from O’Brien to deny him the opportunity to play in both games.

If it was a late decision to go with Gamble over Pryce then of course he wouldn't have played NSW Cup.

And I don't think fair comes into it, it is professional sports, not a school sports day... the coach has to what he thinks is right for the team.

And to be honest, after a good first game, Pryce made too many simple errors in the last couple of weeks to demand to keep the shirt.

Young is having an absolute shocker this morning.

I think absolute shocker is a bit harsh.  He has been exposed on his wing a few times and made some poor decisions but when you are defending a 3 on 1 or 2 on 1 it's  ever easy.

One poor handling error but has still made more than twice as many tackle breaks as any other Roosters player.

The NSW cup was directly before the NRL game. Incredibly unfair from O’Brien if he were to drop him just before NRL kickoff when he could have just dropped him 2 hours prior and allow Pryce to play.

He looked very threatening in attack against Manly last week, he’s running game was really only the thing threatening Manly’s line.

Wouldn't that have been incredibly unfair on the named NSW Cup player who would have to make way for Pryce?

Not helped by him having a second-rower acting as his centre today. The two of them looked disconnected from the start and Melbourne targeted their side relentlessly.

That right edge for the Roosters was Radley, who has played well enough this year on the edge but is typically a middle forward and, as you say a second row in the centre, and Young.

There was no experience managing that defence.

Young was exposed a few times, did he do well, no, but he was always going to struggle.

You mean last week against Manly when he made numerous mistakes?

Pryce was meant to be 18th man but concerns over the fitness of Bradman Best resulted in a late change in plans with Tom Cant becoming 18th to better cover that potential loss.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is Lewis Murphy injured again? I don’t think he played last week and isn’t named this week. Doesn’t really seem to have got going which is a shame as I had high hopes for him

Young still has a very good try rate at about a try per game - but that side of the field is becoming a target and a bit of a defensive turnstile for the opposition - clumsy play and bizarre decisions may not be tolerated in the play offs - lets remember the knights dropped him for a spell last year before he turned things round - a different centre partner may make a huge difference to the rest of the season

Very interesting podcast that may be of interest to some here.

Herbie has such a unique story and I hadn't really heard him speak at length about his journey before (states that this is his first podcast at the beginning). Some fascinating insights into his upbringing, mentality, and challenges he faced on that unique path he took to professional RL.

Speaks very well and openly/honestly about his experiences after making his NRL debut as well, really a player that should be held up as one of the faces of the game IMO.

As a sidenote the podcast release was timed nicely with Herbie's performance on the weekend against the Warriors.

2 tries, 1 linebreak, 11 tackle breaks, 20 runs for 284 metres, 4 offloads, and 10 tackles with no misses.

Ive just watched the highlights expecting a couple of clangers from Young but didn’t really see him being too much at fault for the tries
