Richie Myler confirmed as new Hull FC Director of Rugby...

The Sky Sports article says the following;

Myler's position will involve him overseeing all on-field performance aspects of the senior and academy teams, including rugby operations, recruitment, and the management of the club's coaching staff.

I'd be amazed if he does all of that. Those responsibilities are typically split up between 2 or 3 people at other clubs. Indeed I think Wigan probably have 4 people covering this.

If Pearson and Hull FC are expecting 1 person to do all of that then it may well explain why Hull FC are where they are and lag so far behind both on and off the field at all levels.

Well that's what it says his role will be on the club's website.

Reserves, academy, foundation, women (relatively new) and wheelchair teams are all doing well.  New facilities at Hull Uni.  A lot going on that is good.  First team is dire.

Oh I'm not doubting you at all, just commenting on it.

Sure.

I agree it is a very wide ranging set of responsibilities and even if he has people under him to help execute, he is the guy who has to lead it all.  And that's a big ask.

I could conceive of him retiring and moving into coaching.

This move is slightly out the blue though, being in a wide ranging, non-hands on professional role. I mean the last time I saw him behind a desk it was year 9 history and he got sent to isolation because he wouldn't stop farting.

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

I wonder in the not too distant future we will see him stood in front of a stand in tight Jeans and trainers playing a TV pundit ?

Probably like most ex pro RL players, he’ll follow the money.  Can’t knock anyone for that.

Despite all the urine extraction, I trust it will all work out for the best. If he brings the new f - I -l money in, all to the good, too.

Watched the highlights of the scholarship game after you got in touch, mate. How rapid is Richard Horne's lad Josh?

I’m guessing they will have people in charge of those specific areas, that report into Myler.
