Although (barring Wakefield) this is a competitive Championship, it certainly isn't due to an increase in standards, less funding to the top sides has evened things out a bit, quality isn't there anymore but at least there's a few more shocks on the cards and closer games

 

In a funny way this is what I would like to see with SL. A reduction in salary cap which to start with would see overall standards drop but you would have a much more even competition which then would hopefully help with things off the pitch which would ultimatley increase money coming in to the game then raise the cap year on year. I don't think it works with the Championship though as there isn't the funding and we will see a lot of teams miles away from SL but I think it could work at the top.

Top 4 maybe, I am bit disappointed that the new president hasn't really spent anything yet.

I don’t know if the new president has any intention spending money at the moment. I get the impression the club feels that IMG will get them promotion ?

Yes, exactly. That won't happen if they finish 7th though.

They still need to have a SL mentality both on and off the field, sadly lacking in both at the moment. Long way to go though as we are only on Week 8.

Felt the same when widnes promoted to SL from 5th or 6th After not doing much for the last few seasons before.

Last year really killed off any enthusiasm I had for Widnes, both on the field and off it. It may come back at some point. Just enjoying the results from afar at the moment

Didn't go but reports from Eagles fans say it was our worst performance so far, particularly the first half. It seems most teams are struggling to play well all the time. It's probably the nature of being part-time, and a competitive league.
