Goole v Midlands will have 80% Hull born ex academy players playing. Shame really as these 'expansion' clubs don't bring any players through. Same as North Wales relying on Leigh/STS/Wire ex academy. That's why these 'expansion' teams tend to fair well, whereas London Skolars, Cornwall, Gateshead all fall to the bottom it's a fact.

Please can we call them the Future Super League Powerhouse Goole Vikings while the going is good?

They tick all the right boxes small Northern town and can't get any closer to the m62, if they get the right sized gantry and big screen you never know.

Massive growth potential too, could push 2,500 average within 10 years if they put the work in.

Success stories in RL are thin on the ground. Goole has the making of being a success story. I think they will be a tough opponent in League One.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Don’t you think they’re worthy of a place in the challenge cup then?

And good luck to them. Obviously the likes of Dullard Mood and Ricky could do a lot better though.

The sport needs successful clubs at all levels of the game and a new club no matter what part of the country or size of population is more than welcome.

Goole  may not ever be potential super league opponents but teams like Goole are vitally important for player development.

If you think my light-hearted comment was intended to be disparaging about Goole Vikings, then ..... then I don't know. I thought that in 2025, it is the young who are supposed to be touchy and humourless and taking offence at everything?

Perhaps try rereading my comment in the knowledge that I live near Goole? Perhaps put me on ignore? I don't know what else to suggest 🤷

I did initially think it was intended to be disparaging about Goole, but thanks for correcting me 👍

Hopefully they can develop their own players and not rely on rejects from the Hull clubs.

Given the lack of money at that level, and the expense of doing so, sadly I doubt it. Any good youngsters they did find would probably be hoovered up by SL sides development system anyway.

Oxford genuinely started out with good intentions in this area. Then the real world hit.

If Goole keep lads blown out by bigger clubs in the game and offer a leg up to community players who can't get a break elsewhere, they will be adding value. Genuine player development would be fantastic but with the sort of cuts to central funding endured by that level, is it financially realistic?
