Goole will have a very competitive squad next season. They should be challenging in the top half

If they pick up maybe 12 more players of similar quality and assuming they DR with Hull FC, they won't be far off top 3...

I am wondering what kind of crowd they could ever hope to attract, even once established. Goole's population is under 20,000. All the towns near them, as well as being similarly small, are just as close to existing clubs: Selby is near Castleford, Brough is near Hull, Thorne is near Donny, Market Weighton is near Hull.

More likely to dual reg with Dons.

I used to collate crowds for League One but gave up a few years ago due to not being able to get sufficient data to make it worthwhile.

What I have shows few clubs in this division ever hit a thousand attendees and some in the low hundreds. Even averaging a thousand would be a good result IMO.

I came across this earlier today:

Do Cornwall have any fans who travel that distance? If so, what a reward!

I don't think many if any fans travelled from Cornwall.

I did dig up this data and will do a piece on my blog soon on it. It's the average attendance for 2024. Cornwall and Newcastle only put out figures a couple of times each and their figures are estimates based on that. Cornwall averaged just over a thousand for the two years previously so either the estimate below is grossly inaccurate or as I suspect a sign of waning interest. If anyone can shed light on that, please do.

1 Oldham 1,624
2 Keighley 1,367
3 Rochdale 866
4 Workington 774
5 Nth Wales 540
6 Hunslet 488
7 Midland 417
8 Cornwall 376
9 Newcastle 329
  Average 759

So getting to the point, if Goole can average a thousand, it will be well above average for that league.

First season, you'd hope they would be on or near that. After that is when the 'real' situation will become clearer - for good or bad.

To be fair there was a few Cornwall fans there.

As for Goole they look to be putting together a decent squad, fair play to them.

I was talking to Dave Parker yesterday,  he says Siemens are pouring millions into the area and he’d be surprised if they didn’t put a wedge into the club

I look forward to the first player to come through the Goole Vikings system that signs for a Super League club as this surely will be the catalyst for young budding players in the Vikings system to see what can be done through hard work and dedication.

He's too young looking at the rest of the line up🤔🤣😉
