Whatever, its still money input to Leigh, and to all other clubs who have sponsors, which is good.

Lack of delivery of any demonstrable RoI is what makes some sponsorships last only one or two years. I know this by experience, trust me! 😲

Interesting and challenging: Why Brand Awareness Is Actually ######! - B&T

Sponsorships break down when there is no partnership or drive to ensure the value is perceived - look at the above comments regarding SM views, look at how players and management supported the deal and look at how the club is promoting the brand within its fan base and beyond. IMO a tester was done last season in that Jet2 was promoted via a local travel agent - the return on that probably led to what we have now. Creating mutual benefits or a win/win situation is how all relationships work, creating demand through exclusivity switches the supply/demand reality that drives income upwards. RL Commercial is poop at it but are probably cheap and of little value in the real world

Any confirmation on the real pound notes value yet?

We seem to have had a wide range of values so far.

Whatever it is, the editor of the paper thinks RL Commercial should give Degsy a call, so it doesn't matter.

I'm impressed with the headline sponsor, that isn't a problem.

Leigh have a track record though in this department. giving O2 major shirt sponsorship when it was the local shop giving them a tenner. That was selling a major brand on the dirt cheap.

Hence I am interested in is this what it seems, and what is its true value.

The announcement from one of Jet2’s corporate channels leads me to believe that this isn’t a local branch sponsoring the club. The fact that no such branch exists also helps with this.

Are values of these deals generally made public?

I'm convinced DB has shares in LE. That article is embarrassing.

It is. I've no idea what's happened to the critical thinking in Brighouse but I'm sure there used to at least mostly be some sense coming out of the editorial pages.

I can confirm it's six figures. Six figures of leopards carved from the finest ivory in various states of animal agression/ecstacy, soon to hold pride of place behind the neon lit garden bar of one SL chairman.

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

They can be but not usually.

I'd be surprised if it's what the lottery term a 'life changing' amount of money but it'll be decent. From some of the reaction, you'd think it was the first time a brand anyone had heard of had got involved with rugby league. Why doesn't League Express ask RL Commercial to beat the door down to find out how Land Rover got onto York's shirts, for example?

It's good though. Well, everything except the shirt.

The O2 deal alone was more than double the previous shirts total. Both parties got value from it as the club worked with the sponsor to sell contract offers to fans. You don’t hook a £B organisation paying big money in the championship . The deals at York and Rochdale will be similar and hopefully as lucrative.

Do Wigan declare how much they get?

I don't think it's right to nitpick about deals like this. We pretty much never know the value of sponsorships, it doesn't seem to be a thing that they are announced nowadays, and it's up to Leigh to get the £'s that they want/need.

It's a very strong brand and the more of them we have backing our clubs and the sport the better.

The cringeworthy stuff making out this is like nothing ever seen before is silly, but good on Leigh for what they are doing. I expect the deals they are signing are nothing too revolutionary, but they are giving their fans plenty of excitement and enthusiasm with things like Reebok and Jet2 logos on shirts. I've no issues with them shouting about that after plenty years in the Championship and a couple of rubbish attempts at SL in the past.

Very good post but you couldn't resist the swipe in the last sentance, could you. Yes they were rubbish attempts at SL in the past, but you could so easily have said, "after previously failing to become an established SL club, the owner devised a radical plan away from the norm of gaining promotion and then take your chance, to a system that has really paid dividends and secured his club in the top flight"

What was it you termed clubs from small areas and populations not to long ago?

Stop being an over-sensitive bore Harry.

Even when people write positive posts about your club it aint good enough for you.

I don't see anyone making any claims about Wigan's sponsorship deals.

On this thread people have made claims about the value of Leigh's deal so have been asked to back up the claims.

Leigh are actually paying Jet2 a gazillion pounds a month.

Who made claims? I took the urine in one reply! Clubs don’t release £value for obvious reasons, in the same way councils don’t declare salaries or sickness levels for individuals. When we get out of Wigan LBnB will fly.

It's a good call, that's what happened with Toronto too because every thread became a Toronto thread. Just like Leigh now.

It’s rare these days to have figures made publicly available, but based on conversations I’ve had with people involved I believe it to be 6 figures so it’s definitely not peanuts.

You posted a figure, which later you can't back up, so decide to claim it was in jest.
