In March, there's a game I would like to attend that's a Huddersfield Giants home game.

I've just been poking around the Huddersfield website, looking for information. It's a good looking website, but have I discovered anything useful to someone who hasn't bought something from them before and who would like to buy something from them? Not really. But perhaps getting new customers isn't really a Huddersfield thing?

  • Huddersfield's 2024 average home gate: 4,532
  • London Broncos' 2024 average home gate: 3,178
  • Wakefield's lowest 2024 home gate: 4,821 (Sheffield, 9 Aug)

Would that change if the competition was organised to create more competitive match ups ? Maybe the 8 top clubs play each other twice (home and away) and the next 10 clubs just once? Those next 10 clubs play each other twice (home and away) .. 18 teams in Division 1.
Just a thought.

If you want to guarantee a seat just buy a season ticket, from all the research I have done (none) they are basically free anyway, so goes the wisdom on this board.

This is a local game for (pre existing) local people…..so be gone with you!

What have clubs attendances got to do with how useable the website is.

I presume you are complaining that you can't buy tickets for a match next season that you want to attend and availability is only pre-season friendlies and Magic weekend. Well here's a thing, SPOTY team of the year Wigan have only the same available. Maybe they are just not on sale yet as the push is to sell season tickets.

London have no individual match tickets on sale either.

This is nothing to do with ticket availability, this is about the website offering as good as no information to anyone who doesn't already know about the experience of going to a game at the Huddersfield ground.

An increase in ticket sales means selling tickets to people you haven't sold tickets to before. Why not make life a little bit easier for those considering giving you money?

In 2024 Huddersfield had the second lowest average home gate in the Super League. The lowest was London Broncos. They've since been relegated, and replaced with Wakefield. Wakefields average home gate (in the Championship) was higher than Huddersfields to a meaningful degree, so Huddersfield are on track to have the lowest average home gate in 2025. Do they just not care about ticket sales?

Strange statements but I think I know what you are getting at.

What exactly do you want on the website?

https://the-zone.co/ Maybe?

What have other clubs got that Giants don't have on their website.

I still don't see what attendances have to do with your gripe, which I suspect is nothing to do with you being a Huddersfield follower.

Imagine this person: a 40-ish mother of two young lads. They've come across the chance to play the sport and are interested. They've a schoolfriend whose been to a Giants game and was enthusiastic. So she's curious about perhaps taking the whole family to a game, dipping a toe into the water.

Now go to the Giants website. What information is it providing to this woman? Basically, nothing. Do Huddersfield want to sell her 4 tickets or not? It doesn't seem like they do.

Can you show me an example of a club website that does this, had a look at a couple and no joy.

Some clubs do sell tickets for next season's games early but it appears the big clubs, and some smaller clubs (London) do not.

What exactly do you want, expect, that other clubs do.

The complaint isn't entirely without merit. I think its fair that they aren't necessarily on sale yet, but their site doesn't appear to have a link for a ticketing portal that might tell you this.

They do have a ticket section, but it's found as part of a news feature and not the nav.

Wire don't have their tickets on sale yet, but they do have a ticketing link front and centre.

Giants open one stand in the stadium and never fill it you'll have no issues in getting a ticket when they do go on sale

We wish they did!!!

The open 3, including the 'away end' even when there's only a couple of hundred.

As with most clubs at this time of year individual home games are not available for sale yet, certainly not 4 months in advance, why should Huddersfield break the mould just to please you and stop you ranting on the internet?

What info do you require exactly? i'm offering to help you find it but you seem to not be interested and to carry on your 'rant'.

Are you on a mobile? On a laptop, tickets have their own clear section. The screengrab is too large to post though.

Yeah mobile. I did think that may be the case. But tbh, it really should be mobile-led now.

Agreed.

There are a few simple things all clubs can do to make things more friendly. Putting up when tickets will go on sale is a quick win. Just one extra line per game on the Match Centre page.

I do hope RLC come good on their promise to centralise ticket ops - or at least overlay something on top of what clubs do themselves. As an interested neutral - kinda like the OP - it's a mess at the moment. For example, I had wanted to attend a Cup SF last year but it seemed I needed to be signed up with a participating club. For another example, there is a 'Tickets' link on the SL site for every game but some of these links don't resolve. Rubbish.

If the defence of Huddersfield is that other clubs are poor at making it easy for interested buyers to know what to do then that's not much of a defence.

genuine question.. what information would help here? what exactly is it you think they should be offering on the website, what are they missing?

I think it would be easy to be really clear on what the current status is. All clubs now have fixtures, and they should be listed in the ticket section with the button set to "Buy now, not available, sold out etc".

I think a system which allows you to set an alert for when the tickets go on sale would be useful, as well as a useful data capture tool.

And I always think a customer guide - i.e. prices, how to buy etc. is useful.

And I do find it bizarre that the Giants site does remove the ticket link from the mobile site. That's a basic.

yes understand that, but is it that simple, have the fixtures been confirmed for dates? I thought it was still not 100% due to the telebox and who was on what and when therefore selling them would be an issue, yes I get the other bits 100% and the more information on that the better.

However, bit in bold says its not about that... so what is it exactly? what is it that can tell you about the "experience" that ricky wants on there?? what do other clubs do that Huddersfield dont on this?
