What Are You Listening To - The Reckoning

Recommended Posts

I am currently listening to my son, upstairs in his bedroom, singing...

.. for his Drama School auditions. I'm pleasantly surprised how good he sounds. ?

A good warm-up before watching the Challenge Cup.

I didn't know those two had worked together! Ben's a fantastic artist and the BBoA are legendary. I will have to check this out.!

I think it's an album but I can't remember what it's called.

This is the first I've heard of his more laid-back side. I've only heard him previously in his recordings with Bootsy Collins (Praxis and Zillatron), neither of which are an easy listen.

That album - Population Override - is mostly like Too Many Humans. So is his most "famous" track Padmasana which always ends up on the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos lists, for some reason. (I usually like my songs to have more than 2 chords)

The song's been a bit over-exposed since release, but it is still good. He seems like he's got a style that is all his own, and once the hype dies down, he'll have time to develop his own musical style further. Also, I've seen him in a couple of interviews and he comes across as a likeable bloke with a good sense of humour.

Also, he's bloody gigantic, so being nice about him is probably good policy.

Currently on my third G&T, and grooving to the extremely disturbing but fun Zillatron: Lord of the Harvest. Here's one of the more normal tracks. Normal in relative terms, of course.
