Songs that might mention RL

Recommended Posts

Not songs sung specifically for RL (of which there aren't many), but songs which may mention RL or have a RL connection. Sort of. That is to say these may or may not be the actual lyrics ;)

1. Diana Ross - Chain Reaction

The 1st chorus includes the line:-

'I'm on a journey for the inspiration,

Tell Eddie Waring there ain't no salvation'

2. Bros - I owe you Nothing

2nd verse starts with the line

'I'll watch you Salford,

With no feelings, no feelings at all'

I was going to start a new thread but found this ancient thread to add to..

Sydney Yungins - Run that Ball

(language warning)

The Whitlams - I will not go quietly

“I don't believe in Bondi
Don't believe in rugby league
I believe in Yoko, John Lennon, the last weekend and me
And me”

ChillinIT - Wish you well pt2 (it’s a vibe)
(language warning)

(drug use)

It also has a 1 minute lead up before they actually start singing.

“You ain't gang-gang, it's my city block
I was puffing weed like it's rugby league
Get you knocked on if I kick it off”

Showing the prescience and perspicacity of American,Bob Dylan, from decades ago, when he must have known IMG would get involved.

Slow Train Coming -

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

Was going to have a go at 13th man for choosing such old musical references then saw it was 2010.....but in fact Bros and Diana Ross were really dated back then so I can still have a dig!

Writer and producer Johnny Bristol penned this following a visit to Fartown for a Floodlit Trophy match in 1969.

Martha would later perform it live at Lindley Working Men's Club in 1972 as part of her Keepin’ It Real world tour.
