I've eaten it in Spain (Morcilla) Germany (Bludwurst) and France (Boudin Noir)  and Italy (Salami di sangue) and enjoyed it.  Thirty years ago when black pudding was very much a Northern thing, I was working for a company based in the south.  Our sales director came up to visit various key customers and stayed in Wakefield.  He told me he'd been offered the full English breakfast plus an option of the "local delicacy"  when he asked what it was he was told "Black Pudding"  his face said everything!  In Ireland you are offered it as routine with the "Full Irish" breakfast, and I'd guess it's also a component of the famous Ulster Fry.  Everything in moderation I say.

I love black pudding but am I way off mark by suspecting that this news appears to contradict the recent announcement by the WHO re. pork/red-meat/processed foods being carcinogenic no?

The Spanish version with rice is a very tasty version of the traditional blood pudding recipe. It also makes a good stuffing for a roast.

That's the wonder of media outlets reporting science - cherry pick the evidence to make the story a positive or a negative one rather than a grey area.

The truth is black pudding does have iron, protein, calcium etc which are good for you, but it also has carcinogens that are bad for you. So I suppose it comes back to everything in moderation?

I wonder if anyone buys into this nonsense, all super foods not just this rubbish. Black Pud just so happens to contain some useful elements so lets give it a label. There will be people buying this for the first time on the strength of the announcement, imagine the horror as they realise they are really eating a hot blood clot with white pepper.
