HSBC Planning To Shift 1,000 Jobs To Paris Because Of Brexit Confusion

This follows on from Lloyd's of London saying they are making plans to move some business out of the UK into an EU base, possibly Paris.

It's fine because a small tech company is moving their brass plaque here for tax reasons.

All banks will move some business to the EU after Brexit because there's little point in them trying to keep Eurozone business in London when the UK isn't even in the EU.  I doubt very much we will notice a difference.

So we're now at the point where thousands of jobs leaving the country is to be fatalistically waved away.

Looks that way. I bet it means something to those thousands who lose their jobs.

When you consider those jobs will be full time, highly paid, and taxed jobs, while the jobs the brexiteers are harking about are things like driving cars off ferries in immingham, are part time minimum wage jobs it looks even worse.

Would you say it would be more that compensated for by Britain being able to set up a bank friendly environment once freed from EU restrictions, designed to benefit far off countries?

Not just that but each of those jobs will generate millions of pounds in export revenue for UK PLC.

The Sun is saying that PM May will say on Tuesday that she is prepared to leave the single market, customs union and euro court of justice.

Im going to guess which way the pound will go when trading starts.

Wonder what Nissan will say now?

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Choose which way the pound goes it will be good news if she does what the electorate wants.

This snd similar cases is just unacceptable. Disgraceful. Just wong.

Especially appalling when it seems that immigration from non-EU countries is running at something like 180,000 a year and we seem to be struggling to deport criminals and others who do not have a right to be here,

They have the power to cut immigration by over 50% tomorrow if they really wanted.  They will say they want to reduce it because the 'public' want a big reduction, businesses don't want any reduction and would be happy with an increase.

Well given the Tories got elected on a promise to remain in the single market, and that we have never had a referendum on single market membership, am I right in thinking that there is more evidence for the electorate wanting to remain in the single market than anything else (beyond of course, leaving the European Union)?

There is no mandate to leave the Single Market, it'll be an interesting vote in the Commons or legal challenge should she try and invoke Article 127 without a vote!

Very undemocratic for her to decide to go against the will of the people like this!

The point of the referendum was to heal a Tory party split when the Tory party was the basis of Cameron's support.  At the moment, May has a similar task and the best way to stop EU membership being an issue of contention is to leave the EU with a hard Brexit.
