I take it he has relinquished his role at the RFL?

Reduced from 2 to 1 day a week at the RFL till December.

Also mentioned in the presser how a lot of people in the England set up were involved at clubs too.

Wouldn’t that be a conflict of interests?

I don't know. Wayne Bennett, Jamie Peacock and Paul Wellens all manage to do it? He's only director of Rugby at the RFL anyway I don't see where there would be conflict?

Me neither. Bennet is coach at Brisbane so no coi there while Peacock and Wellens  only have involvement with England rather than the RFL.

Poor old Kev, shiny reputation will be tainted by perceived failure unless he can match Brian McDermott's record of trophy-wins. And, let's face it, he won't.

Loews is there to take the blame for any failure . King kev there to take credit for any success

That's a tad harsh but probably a grain of truth.

Hasn't Lowes been the coach at the Carnegie Cuckoos for a good while. Presumably that gave GH time to assess his qualities.

And GH himself deserves some praise. I know quite a lot of people on here dislike him, but it takes guts to admit you aren't getting it right anymore and appoint someone to do your own job

As mentioned on the other thread Lowes has been McDermott's assistant officially and unofficially over the years so Leeds and more importantly Sinfield know exactly what he's about.

I think there is indeed a large chance that this is an interim arrangement until the end of the season but Sinfield's comments indicate he is going to be permanently involved in picking the team.

Weird to hear Kevin Sinfield use these words when interviewed about his and Lowes appointment.   Rather than setting out how they plan to address the problems short-term, he just states “we’ll give it our best shot and see what happens”...

It sort of clarifies that it’s a short-term panic appointment in the hope of rescuing the season.   There is obviously a plan after October to put a new regime in place, unless by some miracle this temporary partnership bears unexpected fruits.

Good luck to them but I don’t see Lowes as the long-term solution and feel Leeds won’t go down anyway no matter who is in charge.
