Son has lost over two stone training for the above race . Times for all the races he has entered  whilst training have come down by quite big margins .

Generally reckoned to be round about 2% per 3 pounds lost (assuming no muscle lost) so two stone is getting on for a 20% improvement in race times. I've always found training for a marathon brings down times across the board even without losing any weight.

Managed twice swimming this week and have replaced any biscuits/ sweets in my diet with nuts/seeds. Weight was not bad like I’d worried

98.4kg snow but steady progress. Let’s see how I do in the coming week when I’ve got a cub camp this weekend.

I’ve been at Lydd ranges this week preparing to deploy next month.

We had a Base defensive battle exercise yesterday. I ended up acting a stretcher bearer for one of the CASEVAC serials. Lydd is basically a giant pebble beach so carrying a 100kg bloke across that is hard work at the best of times. We were supposed to carry the casualty to the extraction point, which the Staff supposedly told us was 50m away. Clearly having been fighting out of a building, we were all deaf and didn’t hear that distance; so ended carrying the casualty for about 1/2 kilometre across those pebbles with the Staff knackered trying to keep up with us.

Literally can’t move today... too old for this s**t! ?

The ranges at Lydd 25 years ago were fantastic, like being at a giant fairground with other people paying for the shooting galleries for you or in a real life computer game with unlimited lives. And we got to blow stuff up. And machine gun brick walls to see what the effect of a 7.62 would be, presumably to encourage us to keep out of the way when they were in the environment.

I still recall the majestic site of a Mark 4 Cortina being reduced to it's constituent parts by half a kilo of PE4 and sending the bonnet what seemed like a hundred metres into the air to land half a mile down the range.

Sounds like the beach at Cley next the Sea in Norfolk, after 2 miles of shingle I had a sense of humour failure whilst walking the norfolk Coast path.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Had a great time watching the Edinburgh half/marathon . Great transport links ( every town should have them )made the long weekend .Partner PB Half marathon , lad under 3hrs 15 which was the target he set himself before race . Was well on course for sub 3hrs at 24 mile then the wheels fell came off . Couple of hours after the finish he was looking at signing up for his 2nd Marathon ! Big numbers running , seemed well organised , weather a little unsettled !!! Would visit the city again .

145.0 kgs today.  My head has been the issue this week losing a bit of motivation.  Weight was up at the weekend, which didn’t help.  A few consistent days has got the weight going back the right way.

Well I knew it was going to be a bad week and I’ve weighted in this morning at 99.0 kg so although I’ve gained it hasn’t been as bad as I’d worried. A combination of a 3 day cub camp last weekend (where the standard breakfast involves sausage and bacon) and the kids being on holiday has been the main problem although I was too tired to go swimming until Wednesday which hasn’t helped.

Tasks for this week. I need to prep my meals again, so at least 2 lunches and I need to go back to my smoothies for breakfast. Fingers crossed.

Mrs Shadow has decided we are eating sensibly and have been for around 3 weeks now, with pleasing results. I've set myself a target of being below 86Kg by 5th July when we head to France so I can enjoy the food properly.

I've been on holiday with all you can eat buffets. I've put on 3kg.

I should commiserate, but I am actually impressed.

I had a lot of gas in the tank at the weekend and a belly full of being ###### off.  Walked for longer (2.75 hours) and for further (16.5 kms) than I've done in probably a decade.  Considering I was amazed at doing 5kms earlier in the year I could scarcely believe it.  Just emptied the head and kept putting one foot in front of the other.

Only downside was the foot I can't feel obviously got the sock bunched under it, was proper munched when i got the bracing and the shoe off! D'Oh!

Still a way from where I'd like to be, but giving myself a big pat on the back for how far I've been able to come so far.  Just shy of dropping 30 lbs of weight too, hopefully this week or next.

1.5kg off since I got back from Canada, which, by the way, is a fabulous place to visit. Like the USA, but populated by normal people.

Back at parkrun and will be running at Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen on Saturday.
