What's the deal with the Club Castleford thing, completely passed me by. Would I be right in thinking their stuff is made by Oxen but branded Club Castleford?

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

That's Wigan, Wakey and Hull now isn't it? Wasn't there talk of a single Super League kit supplier a while ago?

Was basically ISC in 2011-14 - at least for the top teams.

I'm slightly surprised no club has gone with Umbro yet, though it seems they are doing with Rugby Union what Hummel has done with RL (national federation first then clubs).

Hull have announced today that they are also going with Hummel.

New shirt getting launched later this week.

Good. I’m happy with Hummel, they have a great history (in football shirts at least) and are a respectable make.

Just had a look on Umbros site, looking at the Football kits they are doing they are really nice and it just shows how much cleaner and more upmarket kits look without all the sponsors plastered everywhere. For example.

The more I look at the Oxen stuff the more gutted I am my club has signed a 10 year contract with them.spacer.png

They've sort of reinvented themselves a bit which is nice to see in a similar vein to what hummel seem to be doing. They oddly have a lot of South American teams signed up with equally nice kits - Gremio keeps getting advertised to me from M&M. And yes, the sponsors look better with less and when they are integrated rather than a big white square sticker. Fortunately for Leeds Rhinos, Leeds Building society has looked good on the home shirts, but a bit poor on some away kits.

Umbro do very good sportswear. They are on a similar level to Hummel, though personally think they'd sit just a bit higher in any fictional sportswear ranking.

Purchased by Nike some years ago purely to absorb the England football contract, then sold on some years later. currently owned by a group called Iconix, who also own the likes of Lee Cooper, Ocean Pacific, Zoo York and Starter, among others.

Would love to see Umbro back involved with RL, and think both would get good value from each other. Though looks like they're focused on union for the moment, so wouldn't expect them to look at RL for at least a couple of years, if at all.

Very happy with hummel, thought it might be given other ISC clubs went with them, was dreading us going with oxen after seeing some of their gear.

Fingers crossed they go more Wakey and less Wigan.

You say that, but looking at their "interesting" Wigan designs, it could be a "grey and white" Hull FC kit this year. I hope they have told them no red 😂

I doubt there is a huge amount of difference to be honest in terms of kit production etc, though some union shirts have had looser fits.

It seems we've gone with Hummel. Maybe at the World cup next year we'll see some different manufacturers as one offs

That is true but don't forget we went with a black and dark grey kit the other year so white and grey wouldn't be a massive shock. I'm wanting a vee myself, not had one for a few years now.

Happy with Hummel for England, good mid-tier sports manufacturer. Never going to get Nike or Adidas or even Puma (when we had Puma it wasn't Puma proper).

I don't hate this but...

This owl thing?

I've read the press release (and what a game of bullshyt bingo that is, there's someone who is fleecing Wigan for huge amounts of money churning out tedious stuff full of phrases like, "takes inspiration from", "iconic", "pays tribute to") but I just don't know why you'd splodge it randomly around the shirt - and it's especially puzzling why you'd effectively introduce a competing logo in the same year you are trying to bed in your own new logo of a similar design.

Oh dear....  you lot don't really get this marketing thing do you.

Maybe there should be images of flat caps and whippets on them.  Let's have Castleford have images of winding gear on theirs. Better still some clear glass on Saints' shirt.

Northern Soul was/is hugely popular (so I'm told), Wigan Casino was named the No1 disco in the world (by Billboard) at one time... beating NYs Studio 54 (whoever they are).  Now this may not be much or may be it is, but its better than being awarded the worlds biggest slag heap.  So dont knock it.

It looks a good shirt.  Do get a life you people.

Well I for one really like that Wigan shirt. The northern soul owls are indeed a bit of an odd addition, but I don't mind something a little bit quirky for an away shirt, and they don't detract from the main shirt design which I actually really like.

I own a branding agency.

So I do 'get it'. I am not saying my opinion on the design is worth anymore than anyone else's on here by the way , but don't tell me I don't 'get' Branding and Marketing when I've worked in that industry for 23 years.

I have to agree, Umbro make good kits. Here is the late great Steve Quinn lining up another two points in a classic Umbro strip.

I was going to say something but then saw you've already replied.
