Please explain your or bust strategy as I really dont think you are that thick?

  • Leigh get 500k central funding (100 + 400 parachute) this year plus owner investment
  • Leigh will get 100k central funding next year and possible owner spitting dummy out should they not get promoted
  • Leigh are averaging about 2,600 this season with their last 4 crowds below that (2,500 to 2,100)
  • Leigh are spending £1m+ on salaries alone

Bust can mean a lot of things, the owner has form for going rogue (and not even putting 17 players on the field at one point). I'm okay with my assertion thanks. Happy to be proved wrong and, I've said many times, Leigh have a great chance of going up. It is just risky as hell loading up like this because the fall and hangover (fans and club) is potentially grave.

Funny things is plenty of Leigh fans know this too but choose to fall in line.

Double edge sword Scubby, if he doesn't put a team on the field that can challenge Fev he gets damned for that, but he has put that team on the field and it has backfired in that the interest in easy fixtures are nor resonating with the fans.

As it happens I don't think he has gone or bust just yet, I still think he could finance to improve the team for the job in hand against Fev, he really needs to invest in someone dynamic with a good kicking game to guide the team around, he has brought in all the fire power now he needs someone capable of loading the gun, this is the area that I think Fev has the advantage over us, I think what he has spent up to now could be wasted money without that final cog in the mechanism.

Yes bizarrely the all in now is the only thing that makes sense. However, that means it becomes a flip of the coin and that is what I'm really getting at. Leigh could very well do it with a tweak as you say and then have some players SL ready to go with them.

I think Leigh fans are largely happy with the 50/50 risk but it shouldn't be taboo (or people shouldn't be attacked) to talk about the perils of that strategy. Defeat crushes your motivation as well as finances if it all goes belly up. That is why #### or bust is fair comment IMO.

Not at all, just having some fun as I don’t like your owner.

That makes you sound very childish.

Super league should be 14 teams. Home and away fixtures. + magic match. Gap between Leigh/Fev and rest of Championship is huge.

Blake Ferguson is the thread. Wonder if he plays up and down the slope on Monday.

You’re about £100k light on central Funding

we do not discount tickets -1000 season tickets at £260 A and £200 C plus kids £200k plus vat

shirt sponsorship £150k plus vat

ab cup games £40k

CC games £40k

play off and Gf £50k

13 home games £25k plus vat = £325k will be higher as bigger home games to come

Lottery/LISA £80k

plus match day sponsorship, plus income from 20 boxes plus corporate dining 80-200 per game circa £200k plus

Derek will probably tip in 3-500k this year but the club had been operating at a profit between 2017 and 2020, don’t know about last year

2018 the squad was trimmed and settlements agreed with all players, all paid to law and after a series of injuries and no shows from a couple of players in dispute the squad was impacted by no more recruits for the last 9 games, other clubs had similar problems putting 17 out.

No deals longer than this season and some with SL options for next

please tell what’s or bust, especially as we didn’t take the covid loans and the owner is making millions pa in his business.

You should know by now every thread turns into a let's have a go at leigh and DB thread.😀

But it’s by the same door furnitures who’s life probably consists of failure and loneliness.

I never see mentioned the many great things he does but doesn’t shout about like the Rob Burrow evening the other week which raised £35k, the support he has just given to the armed forces day, the charity work, the donations to those helping to feed the needy etc etc the list is endless

we do like driving investment out of the sport, look at Koukash, often driven by life’s jealous failures

If Koukash wanted to invest in the sport, nothing is stopping him. Are Salford any worse off for him not being there, over spending on players?

I’d love him to be “driven out of the sport” tbh.  Loathsome individual.

This is just fantasy - seriously? Last Leigh game I saw (v Widnes) many of the hospitality boxes were closed.

Season tickets start at £50/60 for kids and £175 for pensioners and £240 for adults - why quote only the highest numbers? Quite a few of the Leigh fans on here are retired for a start. Many fans also stand in the cheaper areas. Crowds have gone from 3350 in the opening game to 2110 last week - that's the harsh reality in the accounts.

I really won't bother with the rest as it is laughably overinflated (I just looked up one of your fanciful claims and left it there). In 2020 the whole of the Championship and backroom staff was on Furlough - using that as a claim of profitability is a bit of a stretch to say the least.

I'm sure @GUBRATS will enlighten you to the harsh reality of running a RL club as he has experience.

I take it back you really are not breet.

1000 Adult concession plus 200 kids - generating £200k plus vat split equally in prices and 70/30 is £185k plus vat plus the kids, so correct me at about £195k plus vat, £5k out from the fag packet

Leighs average league gate so far 2700, the bigger draws of Widnes, Fev, York and Fax all to come at home. The harsh reality is more people paid on the day with the 2100 than in the 3300.

AB cup gates income split plus prize money and same with CC.

So who else made more in 2020? Fev and Leigh kept players employed due to the hope of playing again in a play off with TO, and whoever else wanted to carry on. Leigh had £500k in cash at the bank going into 2021.

What were the financial results in 2017, 2018, 2019 btw

Your hatred is blurring what few cells you have, you even assumed I have not run a pro RL club - wrong again.

I admire your optimism and over inflation 😄 but I've been around a long time. I don't hate Leigh - quite the opposite. Many on here will know that and I will be chuffed for their fans if they make it. However, I call it as I see - I recall doing the same when many at Fev were getting a bit carried away about Probiz a few years ago.

This strategy is #### or bust - dress it up however you like. If it is the former we will never know as Leigh will be deservedly in SL, if it is the latter then hold onto your hats!
