France will be doubly in the spotlight during the TO match against the Dewsbury Rams. Three French referees will be on the field.

A referee known to Elite 1 regulars, Geoffrey Poumès was appointed by the RFL to referee the Toulouse Olympique match against the Rams, scheduled for July 27 at Ernest Wallon. He will be assisted by Louis Refat and Alexandre Guedes, who will be in charge of the sidelines.

Retained during the last World Cup and already called to officiate on the sidelines in the Super League, Geoffrey Poumès asserts himself with this new call as a sure value in French refereeing. Hoping that their participation in this great event creates new vocations in France!

Not impressed with the officiating. The ref was poor imo and lost control as the game went on. Both coaches criticise the officials. One of the touch judges didn’t speak English much to the frustration of the Rams. Only five penalties from each side , most of which came towards the end so hardly a difficult game but even so, the ref wasn’t great (imo of course). Not sure we should criticise the RFL who probably chose the officials in good faith but, all three should at least speak English.

Given Wakefield are full-time not surprising and even Fev probably have 2-3 times our playing budget not surprising. We all lost.

It isn't and you have to give Dewsbury credit FOR scoring.

I'm fairly sure the touch judges are normally French, the little fellah I see a lot. I'm not sure why the players would need to speak to the flag guys anyway.

There have been French refs in the past but it is normally an English guy they send over. Maybe they had problems with some sort of Ref Rota during the summer holidays? Or is it possible that one of the points to help raise the French games is to involve more French referees at a higher level?

It does work the other way to. Not all the TO french lads speak English. Maybe not a big a problem but still the same issue.

Yes, agree.

People were saying that this ref was appointed because it was ‘only Dewsbury’ who came over and that this would never have happened if one of the ‘bigger’ fish had been playing.

Might be but if Refs/TJ’s are qualified, experienced enough and available we should be using them.

Not aimed at you mate but far too many people are making this all about the officials and ignoring the RL.

To be fair the previous president did a great job in official recruitment was down to less then 20 at one stage he managed to increase it to around 115.

Many young ones as well which is excellent.

Wakefield have learnt nothing from the Toulouse defeat. Ball spill after ball spill but only a part time opposition so still 12-0 up.after 30 minutes

I wouldn't say it's that bad imo (a lot intent and shape on display so far) but yes it's frustrating. We could be another two trys up if we could keep the ball. Also that fev try was very soft.

Well no change for 2nd 40 mins.  Spill and penalty and Fev in again.

18-12. 46 minutes.

All Fev have to do is play their sets and the game is theirs.

What's our completion rate? About 50%

Doncaster into the play-off spots, not sure many people predicting that at the start of the season.

Widnes 25 Bradford 6, expected more from Bradford, memo to self, stop listening to Gledhill.  They were pretty one dimensional, looked knackered from early on and Widnes seemed clued up on Lilleys kick for Gill. All in all an excellent afternoon.
