Just wondered what everyone thinks of this from the club that season ticket holders can pick their own seat

I think it’s going to create more problems than it solves. With the Rochdale Road end being opened next season, I’m not sure it was necessary to be honest.

Yeah agreed, unnecessary and hard to enforce really, unless it's only for a few blocks of the stand like the middle 3 leaving 2 blocks either side where you can change ends, seems odd I know they do it in football but can't see it working. Assuming away fans be in Rochdale road end or the paddock next season

We were bronze members last year and got to pick seats. They were the padded ones in front of the hospitality. In general all the people who got those, sat in the same seats  to most games.

Standard season ticket owners don't get access to those seats. It's only if you've chosen some type of hospitality option.

It would make sense to make it just for a few blocks. Not sure about away fans. I know the Rochdale Road is supposed to be a family stand.

Latics do it, but it is not enforced and people just sit where they want. Could cause issues if someone insists on their reserved seat.

Don't do it.  My family and friends will only attend certain matches and I don't want to be Billy no mates sat on my reserved seat.  If I sit with them, I assume my reserved seat will remain empty. 

Lovely gesture from the club as we are learning all the time.

Same here. I take my two grandkids to every game. However, for 5 or 6 games their parents come along (they work weekend shifts and can't get to every game). I want to be able to sit with all my family and the grandkids will obviously want to sit with their parents.

 I think it's a daft idea with the crowds we will get. Will be totally different when we fill the ground.

Let's just fill the seats with whoever comes - it stinks of splitting up the traditional mix of fans and the great banter we have with them.

Bit of a split opinion on this one!

I can see where the club are coming from and like football there will be a lot of fans that like to sit in the same seat for every game, if that is an individual fan's prerogative then fair play to them, they pays their money and then know what they are getting.

Personally for me I'd prefer to buy my season ticket and then have a choice of where I sit. As a number of these post have alluded to different numbers of friends / family members may attend some but not all games at Boundary Park so you'd like to think your particular group could all sit together. If you have to vary where you sit each game dependent on the size of your group to accommodate those who have requested a specific seat then so be it. Also their may be times when for various reasons you take a seat at a game, something happens and you decide you'd prefer to sit elsewhere, its basically just freedom of choice.

I think the club here are trying to please all fans which is commendable. I'd just hope that when the season tickets go on sale you have a choice of 1) if you prefer to pick your own allocated seat and then that's yours for the season or 2) you buy your season ticket but are free to sit where you wish as long as you do not take up a seat already allocated to another season ticket holder who has requested it.

Also, I know the Rochdale Road end will be open next season, at present it seems to be designated for "families" and "away fans", great idea no issue with that but I actually quite like this stand when I've been in it before, just wondering whether you can buy individual season tickets for here as well as the Joe Royle stand?

I am fairly sure the family stand idea is a tie in to Roarys Pride on its new guide?

Not all things down under are good but……..most clubs have two different memberships……one which has a reserved seat, the other that is general admission and no reserved seat. Different sections are designated as either reserved seating or general admission. This gives fans the choice of having the same seat and neighbours throughout the season or having flexibility to choose seats on the day.

General admission memberships are cheaper than reserved seating. Of course in general admission areas if you want your choice of seat you have to get there early.

York stadium being pretty new and we share with City , for Knights games there are 4 options , centre block of East stand all the seats are padded , coloured blue , the last 2 at the top end are black with extra padding as they are used by home and away directors as well as those fans who want to pay top dollar. The rest of the East stand you can reserve a seat apart from the last two sections either end which are open to anyone. Apart from the mid padded section all other areas are well signposted as to whether it is bookable seats or not. This has worked well over the years we have been open , away fans mixing well with us in the main East stand but most away fans use the South stand , best of luck with your set-up but being RL we usually get on regardless with few arguments about seats. Looking forward to playing the Yeds again and if Donny are anything to go by 2025 will be a good season for you.

HELP REQUIRED!!!!

Just tried to buy my season ticket on the club website, want to go for the "General Admission" option in the Joe Royle Stand but unless I'm being really thick its asking me to pick a particular section of the stand. I thought the whole point of "General Admission" was that such a ticket allowed you to sit in any area of the Joe Royle Stand apart from the section of Reserved Seating. I thought it was me being a bit daft to start with but tried a few times and the only way to proceed is to pick one of the sections which at the moment I am wary to do hence why I've not purchased my ticket just yet.

Just wondered if its just me having a senior moment (which wouldn't surprise me these days ) or has anyone else encountered the same issue?

If you choose General Admission, and then are presented with the seat map, just click anywhere.  You should be able to just buy a general admission ticket.

The whole thing is very poorly executed.  Some guy I know had it nailed on.  Ho hum.

Cheers Dave for he advice, will probably then just click on Section A in the Joe Royle stand and then hope come next season I can pick and choose from any unreserved seat that is available.

Out of curiosity though judging by what shows on the website would "general admission" include both the Joe Royle and Rochdale Road stands? That would be good if you can pick and choose between the two stands? Thanks

Just shelled out for my season ticket for next year, General Admission but still had to pick a section (god knows why if your supposed to be able to sit where you want apart from the reserved seats in Section D  ???) so plumped for Section A, hopefully this is just an admin thing and General Admission means just that, you can pick and choose where you sit in the JR stand.

Also does anyone know if we will be getting a Season Ticket Card like this season just gone. Would prefer to use one of these against faffing about with my phone for each game. Thanks

I spoke to Lynne in the club shop a few days back. No detailed information as yet, but she said that the Season Ticket Cards should be available "towards the end of this year".
