The winning try was scored by Jack Render, who played for us in the 2019 Championship Final in Toronto.

What a good game that was and a great finish by Render for the winning try. Never knew why we let him go. Can only assume it was something to do with the talent we began to assemble

At least next season for supporters who travel to Hunslet they will be able to see an engine on the oldest railway in the world.Goes back about 250 years surely that's worth taking the kids along to see.

I think from memory he chose to leave us and took some time out of the game (think he had a hip injury). He resurfaced at Sheffield but only played 1 game for them, then went back to community RL and played for Fryston, then for the last three years he's played League 1 for Hunslet.

In fairness there are quite a few of our recent ex players who left us and ended up at Hunslet.

Anyone remember Jacob Doyle, who had a great game in the 1895 Final in 2021 against York? Went to Hunslet the following year and seemed to disappear subsequently, hasn't played semi-pro since 2022 I think.

Also Jake Sweeting, who also played in that final, has bounced around Hunslet and several other lower league clubs, and played for Midlands Hurricanes this year, and Joe Summers, another graduate from the 1895 final, also had a spell at Hunslet.

Then there's Macauley Hallet - remember him playing for us in pre-season 2019? Also went to Hunslet and then  played for Midlands Hurricanes in 2023.

Remember Jack Coventry, prop who scored a crucial try in our Champiosnhip Shield final win against London in 2015? He's had his second stint for Hunslet this year having bounced around a number of other League 1 clubs.

Michael Knowles was playing half back for Hunslet in the final yesterday at the age of 37...his brief career with us never recovered from that one incident where he lost the ball over the tryline having taken too long to ground it against Hull KR, within a few weeks of that Jon Sharp whisked him out on loan to dewsbury and that was it for his time at Fev.

Kiedan Hartley, Spencer Darley and Morgan Punchard are others that come to mind that had a spell at Hunselt after leaving us in recent years.

Not sure what my point is here really, other than a lot of our ex players have ended up there!

Does this mean Hunslet could put 50 past us at our gaff.  Crazy season.

How did Swinton get double over us lol.

Players move around so much that pretty well every club in West Yorkshire can make a similar claim - it isn't just a Fev thing.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Indeed, but for at least three or four of those players there were Fev fans saying on social media "ooh that one might come back to bite us", and barely any of them have played outside L1 since.

But you're right...in fact the ex-Fev contingent at Dewsbury probably exceeds that at Hunslet over the last ten years, and of course we've poached plenty to come the other way over the years too.

Grand Final on Saturday.

Wakey v Toulouse.

It's live on Sportsman on Youtube.

Who will win? Who are you shouting for?

For me Wakey will win comfortably. And I'm backing Toulouse, if only for the embarrassment factor for IMG/RFL of Wakey going up anyway

TBH I was hoping the Bulls would go all the way just to see Gledhill's meltdown....

It had crossed my mind that the extra .25pts (or whatever it is) for winning the championship final might be enough for Toulouse to be graded higher than C@s, probably not but maybe a reason to hope for a Toulouse win.

I'm sure I'll think of something funny to say soon.

I’m expecting a Wakey win but who knows? As we know to our cost teams coached by Powell who have swept all before them during the season don’t always turn up on the day for the big game 😕

I was born less than a mile from Belle Vue and went to school and played my schoolboy rugby near by.Supported Trinity from 1954 to 1972 saw some mediocre but a lot of great players during their magnificent 5 year spell as the top team.So the decision is easy COME ON TOULOUSE.

For me the Swinton Vs Hunslet was the game of the season.

Lately I've fallen out with watching Super League

Watching the Swinton game gave me that passion back, full on old school rugby league.. And that's what is wrong with super league

Microscopic dissection of every tackle, every try, every contentious decision, the "Try or no try" call by a referee is shambolic, a certain ref has got the monopoly on poor calls, calling Try when he's blindsided, view obstruction or simply can't see the grounding... Wrong wrong wrong.

Swinton game was a breath of fresh air for me, and how the game should be played.

But what's it all for

Swinton not ready to go down, Hunslet not ready or equipped to go up, 14 players were already leaving Swinton, so they've gotta rebuild, Dewsbury & Whitehaven have to rebuild, Hunslet now has to rebuild as their team is nowhere near enough Championship quality, like the end of last season, we knew London would be relegated and where they finished wouldn't stop that, Wakefield knew this season that they would be promoted even if they didn't win the grand final... So what's the point of Saturday's game🤔

And still think it should be at a neutral ground🤔

Right about Super League. Just powerful players running into each other and defences to stop at all cost. Rugby League lost itself when it changed from 5 metres to 10 metres. I know it sped the game up but then we lost the ingenuity of half backs and the roll of hookers changed dramatically when scrummaging became the thing of the past. If there was no Fev I wouldn't watch the game. Though I do agree with you that the Swinton and Hunslet game was a joy to watch. Now it's spoiled even further with the onset of the ludicrous IMG fiasco. Top team up bottom team down. What could be more simpler for would be new fans to understand?
