I lost the will to check further than the first 40 pages of this thread, so I don`t know if anyone has ever expressed a preference for Rock Progresivo Italiano.

The last couple of weeks I`ve been digging out some of the classics of the genre in a one thing leads to several others way.

Banco Del Mutuo Soccorsio, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Le Orme, Quella Vecchia Locanda, Osanna, and a handful of other more obscure artists, some of whom only released one album.

NSFW - here's the back-story from record label owner Johnny Trunk: "This recording happened by accident. I had kept this collection of dirty letters for some while, but was not quite sure how to use them. Everyone I had shown them to were enthusiastic and genuinely engaged by the content.

One evening, at the house of Duncan Wisbey, I showed him one. Immediately he began reading it out in a Cary Grant style, and the whole concept was born. Such is the brilliance and versatility of Wisbey that the whole recording took less than two hours.

And every recording here is the first take."

They only lasted a few years. Apparently, at gigs, the singer used to spit and throw blood into the crowd. Delicious.
