John Prine - Hello in There

Don McLean - Empty Chairs

I’m not remotely embarrassed to admit that both the above songs have me in floods of tears every time I hear them. Especially the John Prine one, it’s absolutely heartbreaking. Don McLean has so much more than American Pie (which is genius)

Don’t listen unless you are prepared to get something in your eye.

John Prine was quite the songwriter - he could give you the bleakness of Sam Stone, but also the affectionate bawdiness of In Spite of Ourselves or an oddity like Sabu visits the Twin Cities alone. A great storyteller.

Someone Tweeted this the other day, and I had a nostalgia rush I'd like to share.

A terrific tune from 1982 with a great 60s feel .

Lol Mason RIP.

I am going to watch Yo La Tengo in Manchester tomorrow, and im really looking forward to it. Not so the victim who is taking me, he had forgot all about it, but he has let me know that he is up at 4am tomorrow because he’s on days, and on days on Thursday 😁😁😁😁.
I do love Yo La Tengo.

After having an awful time with her health and then prioritising bringing up her daughter, the wonderful Natalie Merchant is back with a new album and tour. We've managed to bag tickets for Manchester and I can't wait.

The one artist I always wanted to see live (after thankfully seeing Joe Strummer 🤩) was Natalie.

The new album is gorgeous. There's a wonderful article on her in the Guardian which shines a huge light on her recent life.

This could almost cheer up a RL fan who'd just won the lottery with a supermodel perched on his face.

New one from Susto, an absolute blast of a tune and instantly likeable.

So glad they've not retreated into the country music hole they started digging.

I'm putting this here for safe keeping, because I have been looking for this for years. It's often used as music over a tribute video (usually by the BBC), and is usually the instrumental version.
