I heard Bruce Johnston's I write the songs for the first time a few days ago. I think David Cassidy recorded it first so can it count as a cover version even though he wrote it?

Bleep1673 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Can we have a thread for worst covers, if so this will win, much as I am a fan, but ugh.
Bleep1673 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Original Cover Make your own mind up, I know which I like the best, Buster.
Robin Evans Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Whilst the byrds far excelled Dylan's version of mr tambourine man, I prefer Athur's original version of this.... but the damned covered it very well.

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 I saw The Crying Shames once at my local fire station/dance hall. They were about 2 or 3 numbers into their set when all of a sudden they stopped playing and started packing away their equipment ! I was stood near the front, by the stage, once I looked around there was a mass brawl going on behind me. I suppose they had a contract that allowed them to bail out in the event of trouble. What the brawl was all about I never did find out.

I have never known any fraca ( had to look up if the spelling was correct) that wasn't about something stupid or pointless or the participants weren't being balloons. Wiltshire Rhino Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 I wouldn't call this a "best cover version" as the original is SO MUCH BETTER! However it's an appropriate song to post. If someone else has already posted this, sorry, but I skipped to the last page. 1 2014 Challenged Cup Winner

Leeds Wire Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Don't know who these people are but this is a smashing cover of my favourite Groundation tune
Robin Evans Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 The memsahib and I played Mr Tambourine man last night. The Byrds had a fabulous sound and really covered Dylan well.... fabulous album. 2
